This distinguished award, presented by the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PhilAAST), recognizes her pioneering research in utilizing indigenous fabrics, such as abaca and piña, for the development of advanced energy storage devices.

Prof. Binag's leadership in the DOST-NICER program, “Center for Advanced Materials for Clean Energy Technologies based on Indigenous Materials (CAMCET),” has been crucial in leveraging local resources for technological innovation.

The award was given during the 73rd Annual Convention of PhilAAST held on September 9, 2024, at the Manila Hotel.

Your Department of Chemistry family is proud of your remarkable contributions to scientific research and commitment to advancing scientific excellence.

Needed goods are for basic necessities such as ready-to-eat canned goods, noodles, rice, food items that can be stored, mineral water, toiletries, alcohol, sanitary pads/napkins, and medicine. On August 30, 2024, the UST Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the College of Science, The Graduate School, the Research Center for the Natural and Applied Sciences, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB), hosted an event at the TARC Auditorium, UST. This informative session brought together students, academic staff, and researchers from various disciplines to delve into the intricacies of accreditation.

This event was a key step in promoting a culture of quality assurance and standards within our community.

Academician Professor Emeritus Fortunato B. Sevilla III, PhD and Professor Christina A. Binag, PhD were elected to a three-year term (2025-2028), while Department of Chemistry Chair Alan Rodelle M. Salcedo, PhD was elected to a two-year term (2025-2027). Finally, Assoc. Prof. Felicidad Christina Peñafiel, PhD was elected to a one-year term (2025-2026).

The Kapisanang Kimika ng Pilipinas (Chemical Society of the Philippines) is an 85-year-old society of chemists. It publishes scholarly articles in Kimika and regularly hosts conferences and scientific activities.

BREAKING: UST emerges as the No. 3 top-performing school in the August 2024 licensure exams for psychometrician, in which 212 out of 219 Thomasians made the cut, good for a 96.80-percent passing rate.

UST produced nine topnotchers: Marc Domanais and Mary Ramirez (No. 6; 86.20 percent), Chase Junio (No. 7; 86.0 percent), Yara Inductivo (No. 8; 85.80 percent), Mikael Abiog, Patricia Chan, Shaeena De Castro and Luisa Saplala (No. 9; 85.60 percent) and Nicole Labrador (No. 10; 85.40 percent).
