The Institute Student Government was about to release it's statement next week regarding the issues raised by the administrators in the Consultation meeting held @ the EARIST Amphitheater this March 17, 2012, 2pm. Mr. Ricky Espana, the newly elected ISG President of EARIST Main Campus would be finally occupying the sit of the Student Trustee on the Board of Trustees. And he promised to be a responsible student representative of all EARISTians (both in EARIST Main and Cavite Campus).

GOOD NEWS! Starting March 19, 2012 students could enter the school premises in civilian attire with ID! :)

Please stop using the phrase “krisis sa Mindanao” o “kaguluhan sa Mindanao” on your news reports. Mindanao is a very big island. While a tragedy indeed happened in Basilan, it is only a part of a big land area. It is a disservice to all who live in Mindanao in peace. People who are not from Mindanao tend to think that there’s chaos all over here in the island, when in fact there is none.

If a bombing happens in Makati or in Manila for instance, you would not call it a “Luzon crisis or problem”, would you? You have to be more sensitive and professional because media has the ability to affect the consciousness of the viewers.

You can help the country achieve what it desires. Choosing your words well in your news report is matters a whole lot.

A viral animated video by Filipino artist Baron Buchokoy is already making its way around the Internet. The 15-minute piece gives a brief overview of the Aquino-Cojuangco’s family tree and their rise and stay in power.

The video comes in 4 parts:
I : Cojuangco Wealth - how the Cojuangcos aquired their fortune
II: Hacienda Luisita - the aquiring and conditions behind the land
III: Killing Spree - the killings related to the Hacienda
IV: Aquino-Cojuangco Forever - how local media portrays the family

According to Baron Buchokoy, the video was not meant to be anti Aquino-Cojuangco and that its only aim is to show the other side of the political clan that is often muted in local media. He says the video’s purpose is to educate the dumbed-down, ordinary Filipino citizen.
