Undas ng Kababaihan: Misa at Panalangin Para sa mga Biktima ng War on Drugs

Undas ng Kababaihan in Payatas where Duterte's drug war was intense. I am with the women of Baigani, a member of our coalition, EveryWoman. Baigani has been supporting the families and remembering the victims of Duterte's extrajudicial killings for several years now. The first Undas ng Kababaihan was in 2017.

Tuwing pag-uusapan ang drug war, maraming sagot ang mga DDS. Pero silent sila kapag ang usapin ay yung mga pinatay. Hindi nila kayang ipagtanggol ang kaisipan na ang mga ito ay lahat adik. Kaya sa tingin ko, quiet na lang sila.
Una kong alalahanin ang mga pinatay. Hindi sila dapat kalimutan. Silang nagmahal at minahal ng kanilang pamilya. Silang mga inosente dahil wala sa kanilang nilitis bago hinatulan ng kamatayan.
Tao sila. At gusto silang talikuran at limutin ng mga taong pinayagan ang pagpaslang dahil, somehow, gumanansya sila sa patayan. Ipinalit ang buhay ng maraming inosente para sa peace and order. Their death for your safety. What is the morality of that?

Kung magtagumpay sila na burahin ang mga taong ito na sinilang, nabuhay, nagmahal, nangarap, lumaban ng patas---baka kakayanin nilang mapatahimik ang kanilang kunsensya.
Sana mabigyan na sila ng hustisya. Umaasa kami sa ICC.

We shall remember them, these ordinary people with all the respect we owe to those to whom society owes a great debt.

And then we will remember Rodrigo Duterte and all his co-perpetrators as the bloody and corrupt butchers whose name will be cursed through the ages by the righteous people and society we invest in as we commemorate at this moment.

Ngayong Biyernes, Oktubre 24, 4:00 PM, sabay-sabay tayong magtitipon sa Ina ng Lupang Pangako Parish, Brgy. Payatas, Quezon City upang gunitain at ipanalangin ang mga buhay na nawala sa marahas at madugong rehimen ni Duterte.

Ang mga kababaihan, pamilya ng mga biktima, at mga tagapagtanggol ng karapatang pantao ay magsasama bilang simbolo ng pagluluksa, pag-alaala, at paninindigan para sa katarungan. Ang misa ay pangungunahan ni Fr. B**g Sarabia at susundan ng pagsisindi ng kandila bilang paggunita sa mga biktima at pakikiisa sa White Friday Protest.

Baigani members presented to ML Representative-elect Leila de Lima the 'Transitional Justice Bill for EJK victims' bill that will cover the four pillars of TransitionalnJusticr which includes reparations for the victims of the Duterte administration's War on Drugs and establishment of a Truth Commission.

EveryWoman, a coalition of women’s organizations and individuals committed to gender equality and women’s empowerment welcomes the decision of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to reconstitute the cabinet and evaluate the performance of each Department in line with the administration’s “recalibrated priorities.”

We find this an opportunity for the President to rectify the gender imbalance in the cabinet and appoint women to at least 1/3 of cabinet positions.

But beyond numbers, we strongly advocate choosing women who uphold and defend gender equality goals as embodied in the Magna Carta of Women, the landmark comprehensive law that covers all aspects of women’s lives. And not just in words but in action, not only in campaign promises but in concrete results.

We do not want just any seat at the table. We demand policy-making positions. There are many women who are competent and highly qualified to assume positions in any area of policy-making whether in economic planning, budget and finance, agriculture, environment, trade and commerce, health and education, transportation, energy, local government, peace and security, etc.

Women with gender and women’s rights perspective , competent and committed , can contribute greatly to the change we are looking for in government and the fulfillment of the dreams we have for our country and people!

Kami sa Baigani ay samahan ng mga balo, anak, magulang at kaibigan ng mga biktima ng extrajudicial killings (EJKs) na pinairal ng dating Pangulo Rodrigo Duterte.

Sa mga lumipas na taon, kami’y nagdamayan sa iba’t ibang paraan upang maibsan ang hinagpis at galit sa sinapit ng aming mga mahal sa buhay.

Bahagyang gumaang ang loob namin sa balitang si Duterte ay dinakip na upang litisin sa Netherlands ng ICC. Bahagi pa rin ito ng mahabang proseso para sa katarungan.

Subalit marami pang pasimuno at sangkot sa EJKs ang dapat hulihin at litisin. Marami sa mga institusyon na ginamit para ipatupad ang EJKs, kasama na ang Kagawaran ng Katarungan at kapulisan, ang dapat imbestigahan at linisin.

Umaasa kami sa pakikiisa ng mamamayan para sa katotohanan at katarungan, at nagpapasalamat sa supporta sa aming mga adhikain at tunay na paghilom.

Para sa inyong last-minute shopping, you might want to consider the products of SOW Livelihood (Solidarity with Orphans and Widows). SOW is a group of mothers, widows and orphans of extra-judicial killing (EJK victims of the bloody and terror-ridden anti-drug war of the Duterte Administration, based in Payatas, QC.

As a way of supporting them, the Ina ng Lupang Pangako parish trained and formed these women into a livelihood group that produces sewn products. At the height of the COVID 19 pandemic, SOW was among the groups that were tapped by the office of the Vice-President to produce personal protective suits.
