Does everyone know what a kotatsu is?
This week's Japanese Culture wiki is about the kotatsu.
You've probably seen it in mangas, but do you know what it does?
During the winter, the kotatsu will make its appearance even in mangas.
Like a heater, it keeps you warm. In Japan, its called encircling, or surrounding the kotatsu when everyone gathers around the kotatsu.
You watch TV and have conversations with your family as you sit in the kotatsu.
The kotatsu can not only warm up the body, but also the bonds within the family.

Cheaper texting starts today
The National Telecommunications Commission reminded service providers to lower their text messaging rates, saying it had been receiving reports that consumers continued to be charged P1 for sending messages to other networks. (via)

The rate for short messaging service (SMS) will go down to 80 centavos from P1 per text message starting Wednesday, in compliance with a memorandum circular the NTC has issued earlier this year.

The NTC said interconnection rates to mobile service operators in the Philippines is still one of the highest in Asia.
