HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK
• The leadership of NANS, led by President Comr. CC Okoye, visited Adamson University and Saint Dominic Savio College on April 19, 2024, as part of their Academic Engagement initiative. The visits aimed to strengthen connections between the universities and the Nigerian community, fostering discussions on shared interests, cultural exchange, and potential collaborations. These visits emphasized a mutual commitment to diversity and academic involvement, reaffirming existing ties and paving the way for future alliances.
• President Comr. CC Okoye and other executives visits the National Identity Number (NIN) office in Makati Manila.
• President Comr. CC Okoye also paid a visit to Pastor Dada John of RCCG church, a prominent figure in the Nigerian community.

Highlights from the NANS -Philippines Zone Executive's visit to the embassy of the federal republic of Nigeria, Philippines.
The leadership team of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Philippines Zone recently visited the Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Nigeria in Manila. The visit, held on April 18, 2024, saw the presence of notable figures such as Mrs. Charity Ekeada-Davidson and Mr. Leonard Esekhame from the embassy, alongside various executives from NANS.
Led by Rev. Comr. Okoye Chikelue Chris, the NANS delegation included Comr. Anyilaran John Toluwani, Comr. Uchenna O Collins, Comr. Capt. Idris Idris Fatihu (represented by Comr. Uchenna O Collins), Comr. Afuecheta Chidinma Stella, Comr. Tobin Spiff Emmanuel, Comr. Iyinoluwa Ayedegbe Deborah, Comr. Dr. Prince Odoh Brendan, Comr. Kalu Chioma Jennifer, Comr. Ugwu Sylvester Afanna, and Comr. Ojukwu Leonard M.
During the visit, Hon. Edward Adeshina Oloje and other embassy staff acknowledged the delegation and encouraged Nigerian student leaders to uphold Nigeria's image abroad.
The president, Rev. Comr. Okoye Chikelue, presented a comprehensive overview of the organizations activities since assuming office, including efforts to take NANS back to campus, establishment of representatives in each university Nigerian Student Associations (NSA), production of the NANS – Philippine zone constitution, and various events. Discussions focused on student welfare, immigration issues, accreditation of visa agents, and collaboration with Nigerian professionals in the Philippines.
The meeting featured remarks from embassy officials, interactive sessions, presentations, and expressions of gratitude, concluding with prayers for the embassy staff and Nigerian community in the Philippines. NANS- Philippines’s president on behalf of the executives commended the embassy's efforts in supporting Nigerian students.

Please note that this link is not for actual passport registration; its purpose is solely to count the number of people intending to renew their passports. Applicants are expected to forward their names to the Embassy's email address ([email protected]) or simply register your name provided by NANS PHILIPPINES ZONE for inclusion and possible shortlisting in the exercise announced in due course. Prospective applicants should note the following:
1. National Identity Number (NIN) is now mandatory for future passport renewals. This is also applicable to minors.
2. Birth Certificate or Declaration of age will now be uploaded in the registration form by all applicants (old & new);
3. State of Origin Certificate, Citizenship, or Identification Certificate will also be uploaded by all applicants (old & new).
4. An additional sum of fifty US dollars ($50.00) has been added to the regular online cost of processing.

Highlights of the NANS General Assembly Meeting 2024.
During the interactive session, various challenges facing NANS were discussed, including accreditation processes for schools and intervention strategies to address them. This likely involved brainstorming and sharing ideas on how to streamline accreditation procedures and improve the overall quality of education within NANS-affiliated institutions.
Concerns raised by attendees regarding administrative fees were addressed, ensuring resolution through diplomatic channels, indicating a commitment to resolving disputes or issues in a diplomatic and professional manner.
Challenges faced by students were elaborated on, and strategies to address them were outlined. This might have included initiatives related to student welfare, such as improving access to resources, support systems, or addressing specific concerns raised by students regarding their well-being within the organization.
Additionally, a financial report was presented, detailing the organization's financial status. A historical overview of NANS's achievements was highlighted through a documentary presentation. The reintroduction of the NANS constitution and encouragement for participation across social media platforms were also emphasized during the assembly.
