From October 7 to 31, 2024, St. Louis College faculty Catherine Joy Escuadra and students Christopher Sebastian Azarraga, Nicole Dela Cruz, Frances Kyla Mendoza, Mari Leenor Ong, and Jillian Evonne Sy participated in a Global Immersion at Saint Louis College, Thailand. The program began with a warm welcome from Sr. Christophe Bhekanan, President of Saint Louis College, alongside esteemed faculty members such as Dr. Rattanaporn Sonpeayung, Dr. Chathipat Kruapanich, fostering a collaborative and enriching atmosphere.
Students engaged in cadaveric studies and clinical training, addressing conditions such as spinal cord injuries and cardiopulmonary diseases under the mentorship of Thai professors. The community immersion in Suphan Buri Province was a highlight, where students worked on rehabilitation programs, strengthening their clinical, leadership and cultural competence. Cultural activities together with Thai students , including exploring Bangkokโs landmarks and learning traditional Thai massage, further deepened their appreciation of cultural influences in healthcare.
This internship embodied the spirit of global collaboration, equipping participants with critical skills and perspectives for globalized healthcare.

Mr. Leomil Adriano of the Department of Physical Therapy conducted a lecture series about manual therapy based on osteopathy among Masters in Physical Therapy students of Nitte University, Mangalore India from November 11 -15,2024.
The lecture seminar is part of the Global Immersion Experience of the Department.
Several academic staff and students from the Department of Occupational Therapy presented their research studies at the 8th Asia Pacific Occupational Therapy Congress held at the Sapporo Convention Center from November 6 to 9, 2024. This year's theme is, "Empowering Collaborative Community: Sustainable and Evidence-Based Occupational Therapy".
Assoc. Prof. Ivan Neil Gomez, PhD, presented his study entitled, "Association between occupational balance and mental health among undergraduate occupational therapy students". He also served as a chair in a series of oral presentations clustered under Health promotion.
Assoc. Prof. Kim Gerald Medallon, PhD, presented his study entitled, "Determining the retirement preparedness of Quezon City-based middle-aged Filipino workers using the culturally adapted Retirement Resources Inventory".
Asst. Prof. Paulin Grace Espino, MA, participated in the poster presentation with her study entitled, "A Peek into Young Filipino Children's Happiness to Understand Their Well-being: A Focused Ethnographic Study".
Sandra Tan Pascual and Angelica Tricia Choy are part of a team that participated in the student poster presentation with their project entitled, "Being a Super Duper Special Day Buddy: A Novel Opportunity to Prepare Occupational Therapy Students for Clinical Practice and Inter-institutional Interaction".
The University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery Department of Otorhinolaryngology, UST College of Rehabilitation Sciences and UST Hospital Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in collaboration with the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a PSO-HNS Recommended Course entitled "Balance Beyond Borders: A Postgraduate Course and Workshop on Vestibular Rehabilitation" on December 10-11,2024 at the University of Santo Tomas.
This postgraduate course includes lecture series conducted by well-renowned experts in the field of Neurotology, Neurology and Psychiatry, as well as Rehabilitation Sciences. This will be the FIRST comprehensive course and workshop that will focus upon the MULTIDISCIPLINARY aspect of vestibular disorders.
The second day will include application of the theoretical concepts on balance disorders discussed during the first day. It will highlight upon the common vestibular rehabilitation exercises, bedside vestibular examination, as well
as various balance function tests we have available locally.

They have been awarded the 2024 Australia Awards Fellowship, focusing on โToward Universal Health in the Philippines - Health Workforce Development in Evidence Synthesis.โ
In collaboration with JBI of the University of Adelaide, the fellowship is designed to equip participants with essential skills for healthcare policy and practice, thereby contributing to the advancement of Universal Health Care in the Philippines. The fellowship will take place from 2024 to 2025.
