Official Statement - University Student Government of PCU Manila
As students of Philippine Christian University, we are called to live out the universityโs core values of Faith, Character, and Service. These values are not only words etched in our institutionโs mission, but a living mandate to confront injustices, resist corruption, and embody Christโs teachings in our collective journey as students and future leaders.
Today, our country is burdened with corruption that has seeped deep into the very systems meant to serve the people. Corruption is not simply a political issueโit is a moral and spiritual crisis. It robs the poor, denies communities the services they deserve, and betrays the trust of the people. It is an affront to faith because it thrives in deceit and greed. It destroys character by normalizing dishonesty and exploitation. And it undermines service, when resources intended for the people are diverted for personal gain.
We see its consequences daily. Flooding in Taft Avenue and across the nation is no longer just a natural disaster. It is a man-made tragedy caused by billions of pesos in flood control projects riddled with corruption, leaving our streets submerged and our people struggling. The lack of basic servicesโclean water, affordable housing, accessible healthcare, safe transportation, and quality educationโreveals a government more interested in safeguarding private interests than in serving the common good. The rampant incompetency in handling crises, from disaster response to public health, has made the lives of ordinary Filipinos heavier, while the few in power grow richer and more comfortable.
This reality confronts us as students, as youth, and as Christians. How can we claim to live by faith if we allow corruption to reign unchallenged? How can we claim to have character if we tolerate dishonesty and greed in silence? How can we claim to serve if we do not defend the oppressed and stand for the common good?
As a Christian student government, we proclaim that silence in the face of corruption is complicity. The Gospel calls us to be salt and lightโto preserve what is good and to expose the darkness. We cannot remain indifferent while corruption continues to starve the people, exploit communities, and steal the future of the youth. Like the prophets before us, we cry out: Enough is enough!
On September 21, 2025, we, the students of PCU, take our faith beyond the four walls of our classrooms and into the streets where justice is demanded. We call upon every student, faculty member, staff, alumnus, and fellow citizen to join hands with us and the Filipino people in raising a united voice for truth, justice, and accountability.

History is clear: change is born when the people take their stand. September 21 is not only a date on the calendarโit is a reminder of how generations before us rose against tyranny and corruption. Now, it is our turn. As PCU Dolphins, we do not swim away from the storm; we rise above it, together.
Together, let us build a nation where justice flows like a river and righteousness like a never-failing stream.
