Above Board is a review center and study catalyst established for:
a) Medical students preparing for the Physician Licensure Examination (PLE)
b) Licensed physicians preparing for the diplomate specialty and subspecialty
examinations. The center’s curriculum was developed by academicians who have been teaching in medical
schools and clinicians who have practiced their expertise across the countr
y for decades. Above Board provides structured and self-directed learning activities for the examinees. Learners are given a choice of a study group type of review or individually paced type of review and can switch from one mode of learning to another at any time. Plenary lectures are given by seasoned teachers who have been in the academe for years. We exist to provide medical students and learners including the licensed physicians the
gateway to their life’s calling. Learning Objectives:
1) Identify the fundamental concepts and key topics needed to successfully pass the
Physician Licensure Examination and the diplomate boards examination given by
specialty/subspecialty organizations.
2) Effectively translate the acquired academic knowledge beyond the medical boards to
prepare them to become competent physicians and trustworthy professionals.
3) Acknowledge that the outcome of the medical boards is beyond human ability and is
part of the divine plan. The faculty is composed both of academicians and clinicians. Some of them were past
presidents of their specialty organizations. Still others are current and past chairs of their
departments in universities/colleges of medicine. All are current faculty of academic medical
institutions. The core faculty of experts includes the leading educators in the country. The faculty is a mixture of graduates from UP, UE, UST, MCU, ASMPH, San Beda and
PLM colleges of medicine.
