ICYMI: The Career Exploration Forum for first-year students, with theme Behind the Screening: Life Lessons from Ate and Kuya Kay Inang Pamantasan, was succesfully held this morning, October 29, 2025. A total of 85 students attended the event on Zoom, with others joining through Facebook Live.
As the last leg of career guidance activities for first-year students as they embark on the majorship screening process, Dr. Merimee T. Siena RGC, RPsy, Director of the Student Affairs and Services Office, delivered an inspiring message on manifesting oneβs majorship and preparing for the real-world challenges that inevitably arise in college life and adulting.
The highlight of the program was alumni guests' sharing of their educational journeys and professional growth. Sir Carlito Abalos Jr (FBESS representative), Sir Elijah James V. Cruz (FEIS representative), Ma'am Rosielyn Mae Bolon-Galupo (FLL representative), Sir John Angelo Ramos (FSTEM representative), and Sir Arcie David Arahan (ICHEME representative) shared how they chose their programs at PNU and offered advice on aligning majors with interests, strengths, and practical opportunities. They also highlighted PNUβs rigorous training and the importance of adaptability in teaching, especially when handling multiple tasks, roles, and expectations.
The forum concluded with a closing remarks from Dr. Maryfe M. Roxas, Student Welfare Services Unit Head, who encouraged students to embrace their journey and trust in their unique potential as future educators. In the end, the participants were invited to complete the attendance and evaluation forms.
Student volunteers, Mishiel D. Daganio (2nd yr, BTLE-TP) and Camille Joy Cabalza (4th yr, BSMA Psychology), hosted the program, while Tristan M. Frias (2nd yr, BSSE) and Philip Luis De Leon (5th yr, BSMA Psychology) helped with program preparation and technicals.

This event is designed for all first-year students as they are about to take the Specialization Screening, administered by the Admissions Office. SASO, through the Career Exploration Forum, aims to assist students to:
π Identify academic and career pathways to help students understand the educational qualifications and professional preparations required to pursue a specific career related to teaching and learning, thereby enabling them to plan their academic journey that aligns with their career goals;
πDetermine available career opportunities for graduates of different educational courses, enabling students to learn about diverse career options, broaden their understanding of potential career paths, and make more informed choices; and
πRecognize how aligning their skills and interests can help in discerning what course to pursue. As students assess their skills, interests, and values, they learn to recognize which specific career paths or specializations they should pursue, ultimately leading to greater satisfaction and success in their chosen field.
Tag your fellow freshie and see you online on Wednesday!
