LOOK: PNU Student Affairs and Services Office Holds Virtual Consultation on Mental Health Protocols and Student Assistants Hiring

On June 20, 2024, at 3:00 PM, the PNU SASO conducted a virtual consultation meeting via Zoom for faculty and staff. The meeting focused on discussing the Draft Mental Health Emergencies Protocol and the hiring of student assistants.

Dr. Maryfe M. Roxas, Head of the Student Welfare Services Unit (SWSU), presented the Mental Health Emergencies Protocol to faculty and staff from various offices and departments. This protocol serves as a comprehensive guide for addressing mental health crises, outlining steps for prevention, early detection, and appropriate responses. Dr. Roxas detailed the responsibilities of various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students.

In the second part of the meeting, Dr. Merimee Tampus-Siena, SASO Director, introduced the Policy on Employment of Student Assistants. Dr. Siena provided a thorough overview of the hiring process, specific duties, and terms of employment for the student assistantship program.

As the meeting concluded, SASO encouraged ongoing feedback from faculty and staff to enhance protocols and guidelines. This collaborative effort aims to improve the quality of services provided to the PNU community.

For two weeks, they will experience teaching and assisting 42 Taiwanese students in 3 classes with different age group, namely, 9 to 12, 13 to 15, and 20 and up.
Last Saturday, June 29, the said PNU students met with Dir. Leo of the ALV who gave an orientation and briefing about the whole program. The team also prepared the four classrooms in the ITL-FGEEL for the two-week classes with the Taiwanese students.
