This is the first ever image to show light behaving as a wave and a particle within the same snapshot, according to its creators. The energy-space photography captures light confined on a nanowire, showing both spatial interference and energy quantization simultaneously. Researchers in China and the US have synthesised polyzinc clusters that have pushed back the boundaries of the kind of aromatic structures chemists can make. They have covalently bound eight zinc atoms into cubes, stabilized by sharing electrons between them all in a three-dimensional analogue to more conventional aromaticity.
