Amidst the rising number of reported human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases in the Philippines, the PUP College of Science Student Council reaffirms, now more than ever, its unwavering commitment to empowering every individual and fostering a safer, more inclusive community for all.
The surge in reported cases may reflect a growing number of individuals getting tested and learning their status. And while the numbers may seem alarming at first glance, they also signify a crucial shift: people are stepping forward, taking control of their health, and breaking the silence. ๐ง๐ต๐ถ๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธโ๐ถ๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ.
We believe this growing awareness is a powerful beginning. A beginning that opens the door to broader access to treatment, stronger support systems, and more conversations that shatter ignorance and stigma.
Our advocacy to end the stigma, to raise awareness, and to protect the rights of those affectedโdid not start and will not end with the AIDS Awareness Seminars of 2023 and 2024. As long as there is one person facing discrimination because of their status, our mission continues. We stand firm: ๐ช๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐ก ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐จ, ๐ฌ๐ ๐ฌ๐๐ก๐ก ๐ฃ๐ค๐ฉ ๐จ๐ฉ๐ค๐ฅ.
No one should walk this journey alone. We are building a community where there is no place for shame or judgmentโonly support, compassion, and solidarity.
Together, we fight ignorance with education, injustice with advocacy, and silence with love. We create a future where every person, regardless of status, is seen, heard, and embraced.
