𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐋𝐀 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒’ 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐓 𝐋𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

It’s another milestone to celebrate as the research group, composed of Grade 12 HUMSS 12F Manila students, Christine Joyce B. Abad, Sofia Kim C. De Guia, Kary Ann Nicole L. Fauni, and Stacy Heather M. Nava, and advised by The Academy’s Assistant Dean for Research and Faculty Development, Dr. Christian P. Gopez, clinched the Best Poster Presentation Award at the LSSUMMIT 2026, held on June 18, 20, and 21, 2026.

Their bibliometric study titled, “Generative Artificial Intelligence Policies in Philippine Scholarly Journals: Evidence from Scopus- and Andrew Gonzalez Philippine Citation Index-Indexed Journals,” presents a comprehensive examination of 82 journal websites, author guidelines, publication ethics statements, submission checklists, and related policy documents to determine the availability, visibility, scope, and depth of GenAI-related guidance. Their work suggests that GenAI policy development in Philippine scholarly journals is emerging yet fragmented, with many journals treating AI use as an author-compliance issue rather than a broader matter of editorial governance.

This study is not part of the requirements of their research classroom but rather a product of the extended research adviser's and student advisees’ collaborative engagement and sustained partnership.

𝐋𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐍𝐀 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐀𝐓 𝐋𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The DLSU Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) from the Laguna Campus was awarded “Overall Best Paper” at the LSSUMMIT 2026 held on June 18, 20, and 21, 2026, adding to this year’s student recognitions for research excellence.
This paper titled, “Exploring Young Adults' Lived Experiences of Sexual Citizenship amid the Sexualizing Norms of Social Media,” is authored by Jillian Rose Bono, Jesseka Argana Delfin, Nina Laureanna Flores, Nina Gammad, and Hilti Kate Labit, and advised by Joanna Christelle D. Navarro.

Their study explored how Filipino young adults interpret sexual responsibility and boundaries in the sexualized social media content they encounter. The findings highlight the importance of preserving human dignity, fostering respectful digital encounters, and strengthening sexual literacy in increasingly sexualized online environments.

𝗢𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆:

Stepping into University life as a frosh usually brings a wave of overwhelming changes. It is easy to feel lost in the crowd.

For frosh scholars Basti San Agustin (I, Vaugirard, DOST-SEI Merit) and Phil Ranga (I, DOST MERIT), both officers from the Publicity Committee, surviving this massive transition meant finding the right support system early on.

For Basti, the fear of the unknown was quickly dissolved by the warmth of LSS:

𝘠𝘦𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘓𝘚𝘚 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘹𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘋𝘓𝘚𝘜.”

Phil initially viewed the Scholar Society through a slightly different lens before realizing its true nature. While it is easy to see a scholars' group as strictly academic, he found a reality rooted in genuine connection:

“𝘔𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘚𝘚 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯-𝘵𝘰-𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘣 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝘏𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦-𝘬𝘯𝘪𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴.”

With packed academic schedules, simply hanging out can be a challenge. For Phil, organizational gatherings have become deeply personal highlights of his routine.

“𝘐 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘚𝘚 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘰𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦,"Phil shares. "𝘐 𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭."

Hoping to pass on that same welcoming energy to others, Basti strongly encourages his fellow scholars to dive in and engage, especially those who might still feel hesitant about joining student life.

Beyond their shared commitment to LSS, Basti and Phil, alongside their friend and fellow PUB officer Tyler, also pay it forward by serving as active officers for the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC). They stand as a brilliant reminder that university life even with the most demanding degrees and extracurriculars does not have to be weathered alone. There is always a community waiting to welcome you home.

[SCHOLAR SERVICES] [DOST UPDATES]

Dear DOST Scholars,

We understand and share your frustration over the delayed updates and stipend releases. Within LSS itself, DOST scholars are experiencing these same delays and uncertainties alongside you.

LSS Scholar Services is not the DOST Core Group. As a student organization, we cannot authoritatively speak on behalf of or issue official information regarding these concerns, as this rests solely with the Core Group, the exclusive authorized body of DOST to share scholarship-related updates. For accuracy, we have been asked to defer to their official communications. Nonetheless, we remain fully concerned for every scholar affected and are doing our best, within our own limitations, to relay your concerns.

As communicated to us, the Core Group will release a comprehensive announcement tomorrow addressing the issues raised, including stipends and related matters. We invite your deference to that update so that all receive clear and unified information from the proper source.

Liceo U Senior High School student researchers demonstrated research excellence at the Lasallian Scholars Summit (LSSUMMIT) 2026 on July 18, with one team earning the Best Oral Presentation award during the annual national research conference themed “Reimagining Research as a Field of Encounter and Fraternity.”

Representing the university in the Social Transformation through Finance, Enterprise, and Economics (SEE) category, Donald S. Daayata Jr., Aragasi A. Said Jr., and Jan Alvin M. Soner of Grade 12 ABM received the Best Oral Presentation award for their study, “Coco Mori Wrap: A Feasibility Study.”

Also representing the university, Just Rel V. Binobo of Grade 12 HUMSS 1 presented the study, “The Scholars' Persona: Adaptive Coping Strategies of Grade 12 STEM Scholars for Scholarship Retention,” under the Concern for Human Person, the Culture of Encounter, and Society (CHP) category.

LSSUMMIT 2026 gathered student researchers from Lasallian schools and partner institutions across the country to present research findings, exchange ideas, and promote collaborative scholarship.
