Ramon Avanceña High School is a public school at District III, Division of Manila. The following year, Arlegui Annex was made a separate high school with Ms.
Justice of the Supreme Court, Ramon Avanceña High School started with 1,718 freshmen and sophomores, 97 teachers and 30 classrooms (20 in the main building and 10 in the Vergara Annex)
It was in March 16, on the same year, when Division Circular No.4 s. 1959 was issued, informing principals of the change in name of school. Ramon Avanceña High School was adjudged as the second cleanest school in Manila in its first year of existence. On March 25, 1961, Ramon Avanceña High School presented its first graduates, 572 students at San Sebastian Auditorium (360 college preparatory curriculums and 212 vocational curriculums). October 1962, evening classes were opened with 588 enrollees and 53 teachers. On October 6, 1966 Ordinance No. 5724 was passed, providing the construction of the building and was approved by Mayor Antonio Villegas. From 1962 up to 1967, Barreto Compound; proposed site was purchased during the incumbency of Ms. Margarita Santamaria as the principal. December 16, 1971 marked as the Inauguration of the building of Ramon Avanceña High School. Sponsors were Mayor Antonio Villegas, Doña Flocerfina vda. de Avanceña and Mrs. Josefa E. Marcos. On January 24, 1972, transfer to the newly constructed school building took effect. Enrollment steadily increased and reached the fourth shift during the year 1974.
1977 – 1980
Representative Leonardo Fugoso of the second district of Manila helped in the repair of the roof of the main building and renovation of the fence.
1999
A utility van for school was acquired through fund raising projects led by PTCA officers and contributions of Avanceña family.
2000 – 2002
A budget was approved amounting to P5 million allocation from DedEd and the City fund, went to the retiling of the Bulwagan, glass paneling of Computer Room, repair of deck roof, electric rewiring, new lighting, stairways and all comfort rooms.
2002 – 2004
Rehabilitation for the concrete fence, the library and the function room, putting up of the audio-visual room, repainting of the entire school façade (paint donated by Tanduay Distillery Inc.) took place.
2004 - 2006
Renovation of the function room in the third floor, donation of more computers from DedEd Manila and DTI came for the improvement of the computer laboratory.
2006 – Present
Alumni and Ayala Foundation provided the internet connectivity and local area networking of the computer center for use in teaching, researching and improvement in English, Science, and Mathematics teaching.
