โLast December 16, the UPCN Library was filled with more than just booksโit was filled with the laughter and stories of UPCN alumni currently serving as nurses in Philippine General Hospital. It was the perfect breather from hospital duties to reconnect with the community that started it all.
โA huge thank you to the UPCN Alumni Association, Inc. for making this possible, and a special shoutout to Ms. Rita Villanueva-Tamse (UPCN lecturer and former PGH Deputy Director for Nursing) and Ms. Marian T. Villanueva (PGH DNET Nurse IV and proud UPCN alumna) for their hard work in leading the organization of this joyful gathering. ๐โค๏ธ

Sa pamamagitan ng awit, munting handog, at malasakit, naiparating ang mensahe na hindi sila nag-iisa ngayong Pasko. ๐
Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nakiisa at tumulong upang maging posible ang araw na ito na puno ng pag-ibig, pag-asa, at pagkakaisa. ๐

In observance of World AIDS Day, the UP College of Nursing and the UP Manila Center for Gender and Women Studies, in collaboration with the UP Male Nursesโ Organization, in partnership with LoveYourself Inc., held a meaningful two-part event last December 4, 2025, anchored on the theme โResilient Together: Transforming the AIDS Response through Awareness, Research, and Action.โ
The program opened with a series of thought-provoking messages from distinguished speakers who highlighted the critical intersections of awareness, stigma reduction, research, and community engagement. Prof. Amiel Nazer C. Bermudez of the UP College of Public Health discussed the psychosocial syndemic burden and antiretroviral therapy adherence among cisgender Filipino men who have s*x with men, explaining co-occuring and mutually-reinforcing psychosocial conditions shaping HIV-related outcomes.
This was followed by Pete Tan, Program Officer of LoveYourself Inc., who shared the organizationโs ongoing community action and advocacy initiatives aimed at strengthening prevention, testing, and care.
One of the most impactful moments of the event came from Project Duyan of the Project Red Ribbon Care Management Foundation, Inc., as a member bravely shared their lived experience through the segment Stories of Strength, offering a deeply personal narrative that emphasized resilience, compassion, and the necessity of inclusive support for people living with HIV.
Following the learning sessions, members of the UP Manila community were invited to avail of ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐ช๐ฃ๐จ๐๐ก๐๐ฃ๐, made possible through our partners from ๐๐ค๐ซ๐๐๐ค๐ช๐ง๐จ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ฃ๐., reinforcing the importance of accessible prevention tools and empowering individuals to make informed health decisions.
Through shared learning, community voices, and proactive engagement, this commemoration reaffirmed our collective commitment to a future rooted in awareness, compassion, and zero stigma.
