ENGINE-ROOM INSIGHT: Fresh Water Cooling Systems

Maintaining the main engine in a ready-to-run condition begins with effective jacket-water temperature control. The High-Temperature Fresh-Water (HTFW) pre-heater keeps the circuit at 60 – 65 °C during idle periods, ensuring:

• Uniform thermal expansion of cylinder liners
• Elimination of condensation-related corrosion
• Significantly reduced warm-up time at start-up

Once the engine is on load, the pre-heater is isolated and temperature is managed by combustion heat in conjunction with the three-way mixing valve.

A simple component delivering measurable gains in reliability, efficiency, and service life.
