COED NEWS: Partnership for a Greener Future

The PUP College of Education formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Seeds of Hope Society Philippines yesterday, marking the beginning of a meaningful collaboration for the Collegeโ€™s upcoming Tree Planting Initiative. This outreach activity engages faculty members in promoting environmental sustainability, reinforcing the Collegeโ€™s commitment to community development and ecological responsibility. Through this partnership, both institutions aim to create lasting impact by nurturing greener spaces and raising awareness on the importance of environmental preservation.

This initiative is aligned with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by supporting reforestation and biodiversity conservation; SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaborative efforts with Seeds of Hope Society Philippines; and SDG 4 (Quality Education) by empowering educators to model environmental stewardship. COED NEWS: PUP COED Holds Exploratory Meeting for RCBA

The PUP College of Education recently held an exploratory meeting with the college deans of Rizal Technological University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, University of Caloocan City, and the City University of Pasay. It was a meaningful exchange of ideas, with everyone sharing their insights and common goal of strengthening collaboration among institutions.

The group discussed a possible research partnership and collaboration focused on building research capabilities, centered on the theme, โ€œAddressing the Gap of Philippine Education Based on EDCOM 2 Reports.โ€ With this initiative, the participating universities aim to work together in developing more relevant and impactful research that can help improve the current state of education in the country.

COED UPDATES: R&E Chief Served as Resource Speaker

Last May 30, 2026, the Dominican College of Tarlac warmly welcomed Asst. Prof. John Amiel A. Rivera, Research and Extension Chief of the PUP College of Education, as resource speaker under the Technical Assistance and Advisory Services (TAAS) program. He delivered an engaging talk on Designing Quality Classroom Assessment, highlighting the importance of constructive alignment in connecting learning outcomes, teaching strategies, and assessment tasks.

The session gave faculty members practical tools they can use to enhance their course syllabi and design assessments that truly support student learning. Prof. Riveraโ€™s insights inspired educators to embrace learner-centered approaches and strengthen their commitment to delivering quality education.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the PUP College of Education, proudly continues the journey of empowering young minds through the third implementation of the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program 2026.

Our COED students are once again stepping up as Learning Facilitators and Youth Development Workers, while COED officials and faculty members ensure the smooth monitoring of this flagship initiative. More than just a program, this is a heartfelt outreach activity of the college, bringing education closer to the community.

As a holistic program, the Tara, Basa! not only supports PUP COED students financially but also strengthens their role as catalysts of change. At its core, this program provides vital reading intervention for struggling readers in DepEd schools โ€” proving that literacy is the foundation of brighter futures.
