As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we are reminded that honoring women goes beyond greetings and celebrations. It is about recognizing their worth, protecting their rights, and demanding respect in every space—especially from those in power.

Recent disturbing remarks from some public figures about women reveal that sexism and disrespect still exist in our society. Words matter, particularly when they come from leaders whose voices influence the public. International Women’s Day should therefore serve as more than a celebration—it must also be a call for accountability, equality, and genuine respect for women.

True empowerment means building a society where women are not only recognized for their achievements but are valued, protected, and treated with utmost respect. The quest for equality continues.

On this day, February 25, 2026, we commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, a historic four-day peaceful revolution from February 22–25, 1986 along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA). Millions of Filipinos—from all walks of life — stood together to end the 20 years dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos Sr., restoring democracy in the Philippines. Through unity, courage, prayer, and nonviolent resistance, Filipinos proved that real power belongs to the people.

EDSA Revolution taught the youth that democracy must be protected, and the truth defended. It takes courage and active participation to earn the freedom we deserve.

The People Power reminds the Filipinos that their voices matter to overcome oppression through unity. Love of country is best shown not just in words but in action.

The Ash Wednesday Mass of the LCCM community held at the Mother Consuelo Barcelo Theater on February 18, 2026, made everyone reflect as Fr. Mikael Kabalen, the mass celebrant, encouraged all to embrace change this Lenten season and repent on their wrongdoings and not to pass judgment on others. He also reminded each one that there is a Savior willing to cleanse us of our sins if we only turn to Him.

On February 18, Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and repentance leading to Easter. It is observed 46 days before Easter Sunday.

During Mass, ashes made from burned palm branches of the previous Palm Sunday, are imposed on the forehead in the shape of a cross. The ashes symbolize human mortality and the call to repent for their sin and grow closer to God.

For many Christians, especially Catholics, it is a day of fasting and abstinence—a quiet reminder that renewal begins with humility, reflection, and faith.

Chinese New Year signals the start of the lunar calendar and is joyfully celebrated with family gatherings, red ornaments symbolizing good luck, vibrant dragon dances, and fireworks believed to ward off negative energy.

The Year of the Horse is the seventh animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle. It represents power, swiftness, independence, and resilience. In Chinese tradition, the Horse is also linked to achievement and rapid success, reflected in the saying “马到成功” (mǎ dào chéng gōng) — “When the horse arrives, success follows.”

Historically, horses were not seen as symbols of luck, but of action and reliability. They transported people, delivered messages, carried supplies, and bore responsibility. Horses connected communities and made progress possible. Without them, nothing move forward.

As we welcome the Chinese new year, may we be reminded that success is not merely about moving fast, but about choosing to move at all. Progress starts with action. 🐎✨

Valentine’s day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on the 14th of February. It started out as a Christian Feast day dedicated to Valentine, a martyr. It is for expressing love, affection, and emotional connection through presents, cards, and flowers. It doesn’t just focus on romance, but also for family, friends, and even self love. These are all part of the celebration.

Last February 8, 2026, St. Jude Catholic School proudly hosted the Run for Peace Fun Run as part of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Mendiola Consortium. The event brought together students, faculty, and partner institutions in a meaningful display of solidarity and community spirit.

It is more than just a race, it was a celebration of five decades of partnership, commitment, and shared advocacy for peace and collaboration.
