The year 2022 marks the 150th year anniversary of the Cavite Mutiny and the martyrdom of the GOMBURZA priests, namely Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora. The University of the Philippines joins the nation in the commemoration through a series of activities involving the various Constituent Universities.

As its contribution, UP Manila will hold four (4) webinars on the following themes:

1. GOMBURZA Martyrdom: Triumph of the Native Clergy
(19 August, Friday)

2. GOMBURZA Sites of Memory in Manila
(26 August, Friday)

3. GOMBURZA Ideal Today: Service and Commitment
(2 September, Friday)

4. GOMBURZA Ideal Today: Equality of All
(9 September, Friday)

New public health, pharmacy deans appointed

Associate Professor Francis R. Capule and Professor Fernando B. Garcia, Jr. were appointed deans of the College of Pharmacy and College of Public Health, respectively, by the UP Board of Regents during its 1371st meeting held on June 9, 2022. Their term of office is three years from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2025.

ANUNSYO | UP Manila University Graduation Updates

The UPM USC recently joined the discussion about the upcoming graduation rites with the university Graduation Committee. The following are event details that were discussed:

• Date and Venue: August 2, PICC Plenary Hall
• Theme: Iskolar ng ng Bayan Naninindigan para sa Katotohanan at Karapatan ng Mamamayan
• Mode of Delivery: Face-to-face
• Participants: Graduating Class S.Y. 2021-2022

The guidelines and list of graduates will be announced soon. Arrangements are subject to change in cases of unforeseen events.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) will hold its out of town strategic planning session on 16-18 June 2022.

In this regard, the colleges/units/offices are requested to forward documents, which require the VCAA's immediate action, to the OVCAA on or before 15 June 2022 (Wednesday).
