Dear UPCN Alumni,
We are excited to announce the Call for Nominations for the 2025–2026 Board of Trustees of the UP College of Nursing Alumni Association, Inc.

Nomination Details:
Nomination Period: Now until September 5, 2025 (Friday) at 5:00 PM

Election Period: September 8–22, 2025, closing at 5:00 PM

Eligibility:
Nominees must be alumni of the UP College of Nursing in good standing with both the College and the Alumni Association.

Nomination Requirements:
1. Submit a photo of yourself wearing a sablay (academic attire).
2. Submit a bionote (brief personal biography).
3. Indicate your batch year upon graduation.

Selection Process:
After the nomination period ends, the current Board of Trustees will review and shortlist the top 10 nominees based on established criteria. These individuals will then move forward to the official election.

We encourage you to take part in this essential process and help us identify leaders who will uphold and advance our shared values and vision.

The UP College of Nursing mourns the passing of Dr. Cecilia “Cecile” M. Laurente, former Dean, professor, and esteemed nursing theorist.

Dean Cecile began her career at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), rising from staff nurse to Head Nurse of the Emergency Room Complex, then serving as Assistant to the Chief Nurse for Training and Education and later as Assistant to the Chief Nurse for Research and Development. She later worked as a charge nurse in Michigan, USA, before joining UPCN as a faculty member, where she became Professor 4, College Secretary, and served two terms as Dean.

Even after retirement, she remained a well-loved presence, keeping faculty, staff, and alumni connected through her thoughtful and humorous emails. She reminded colleagues to take breaks, enjoy a cup of coffee, and stay hydrated on hot days.

A respected leader and mentor, Dean Cecile received numerous accolades, including the UP Outstanding Professional in Nursing Award, the Julita V. Sotejo Medallion of Honor, and the 3M National Award in Nursing. She was also a former President of the Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing.

Her generosity, humor, and dedication to nursing education leave a lasting legacy.

Rest in peace, Dean Cecile. You will always be remembered. 🕊️

UPCNAAI is reaching out for prayers and support for the health recovery of Col. Vicky Laygo Vidal, UPCN Class 70.

Col. Vidal is the former president of the Military Nurses Association of the Philippines and the recipient of the Distinguised Alumni Award for Nursing Administration and Education in 2022. She was also a former faculty of UPCN after she retired from the military.
