Dr. Raymond Girard Tan, the DLSU's Vice President for Research and Innovation, appointed the members of the College of Science College Research Council for Academic Year 2024-2025. ✨️TRAINING THE FUTURE✨️
Today marks the end of the Training on Taxonomic Amalgamation Units (TAUs) attended by several DLSU thesis students of Dr. Wilfredo Licuanan, DLSU faculty, researchers, international interns, and local community members.
This is a 3-day crash course of the original 8-day training on TAUs offered by the DLSU SHORE Center to National Government Agencies such as DENR and DA-BFAR.

Hope Spot Champion, Dr. Wilfredo Licuanan meets Mission Blue Founder, Dr. Sylvia Earle to talk about future plans and support for the Verde Island Passage (VIP). A week ago, the inauguration ceremony of Br. Alfred Shields FSC Marine Station (BrAMS)'s New Building (Phase 1) was celebrated.
The event welcomed distinguished guests who made this structure possible. Namely, Dr. Raymond Tan, Vice President for Research and Innovations (VPRI); Dr. Jonathan Dungca, VP for the DLSU Laguna Campus; Dr. Jason Ongpeng, Executive Director of the Campus Development Office; JSLA Architects, Inc., 110 Consultants, and Villaroel Builders' representatives. Together with our very own ShORe Center Director, Dr. Wilfredo Roehl Y. Licuanan, and BrAMS Coordinator, Dr. Chona Camille Vince-Cruz Abeledo.
The celebration was also done together with esteemed guests, including representatives from DLSU’s Department of Biology, Sustainability Office, Laguna Operations Council, Lian Homeowners’ Association, and Doc Al and Doc Chona’s research teams and students.
This new building will open doors for new opportunities for researchers, students, partners, and marine biology enthusiasts.

In May 2013, Br. Ricardo P. Laguda FSC, then President and Chancellor of DLSU approved the establishment of the SHORE Center, to which the existing Br. Alfred Shields FSC Marine Station (Shields Marine Station) would be attached. The Shields Marine Station is an academic facility of the College of Science that serves as a base for teaching, research, and extension activities in coastal areas.
OUR MISSION:
The SHORE Center endeavors to conduct relevant, responsive, values-driven scientific research and mentorship to engage and mobilize the youth and the community as active stewards and advocates of sustainable Philippine seas and coasts.
