SHORE Center Director Dr. Chona Camille VinceCruz-Abeledo participated in the Stocktaking Roundtable Discussion on Marine Scientific Cooperation in the Sulu-Sulawesi-Timor Subregion, organized by the UP Marine Science Institute.

The discussion highlighted the importance of strengthening regional scientific networks and collaboration for shared marine ecosystems and sustainable ocean governance.

We’re proud to share that Dr. Chona Camille VinceCruz-Abeledo, Director of the Br. Alfred Shields FSC Ocean Research (SHORE) Center, has joined the Kalalawdan Fellowship Program Batch 2.

The fellowship brings together scientists, policymakers, and practitioners from across the country to strengthen science-informed and science-enabling maritime governance. Through this program, fellows will work collaboratively to bridge research, policy, and practice in support of more effective and sustainable ocean governance.

At the SHORE Center, we believe that advancing marine and coastal science goes hand in hand with building partnerships and translating scientific knowledge into real-world impact. We are excited to support this journey and look forward to the collaborations, insights, and opportunities that will emerge in the months ahead.

Dr. Chona Camille VinceCruz-Abeledo attended the reception hosted by H.E. Marie Fontanel, Ambassador of France to the Philippines, in celebration of the Blue Nations initiative and the awarding of the National Order of Merit (Chevalier) to Mr. Frédéric Tardieu, founder of Sulubaaï.

The event brought together leaders, researchers, conservation practitioners, and development partners who share a common commitment to advancing ocean conservation, strengthening the blue economy, and building meaningful international collaborations for sustainable coastal development.

As a molecular ecologist and Director of the Br.
