𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦: 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵.

Vision is vital to our quality of life, independence, and overall well-being. Officially observed every August pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 40, s. 1954, Sight-Saving Month underscores the critical need to prevent avoidable blindness and manage visual impairments. Through early detection, regular comprehensive eye checkups, and proper eye care practices, major sight-threatening conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and refractive errors can be diagnosed and managed effectively.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿
to champion blindness prevention and accessible eye healthcare for every community

to encourage prompt medical consultation at the first sign of vision changes

and to advocate for regular eye screenings and proactive vision protection across all ages

Anchored in purpose and dedication, the Marian School of Nursing Student Council successfully held its General Orientation for the First Semester of Academic Year 2026–2027 via Facebook Live on August 20, 2026.

Carrying the theme “𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙃𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙯𝙤𝙣𝙨: 𝙀𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮”, the orientation guided 1st to 4th-year Marianites through key academic policies and clinical milestones while underscoring the vital role of future nurses in advancing Universal Health Care (UHC) and championing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Equipped with knowledge and renewed inspiration, Marian nurses are now ready to set sail toward clinical excellence, equity in health, and compassionate service.

Today, we commemorate the heroism and unwavering conviction of Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., who stood firmly for truth and democracy in our nation's darkest hours. As stated in Memorandum Circular No. 131 issued by Malacañang, face-to-face classes at all levels will remain suspended tomorrow (August 20, 2026), due to continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (habagat).
To ensure continuity of learning, we will implement online synchronous classes.

Clear lungs and healthy breathing are essential to a thriving life and a resilient nation. Officially observed every August pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1761, s. 1978, National Lung Month highlights the importance of respiratory health, clean air, and protection against the dangers of smoking, secondhand smoke, and environmental pollutants. With the observance of National Tuberculosis Day on August 19, we are also strongly reminded that Tuberculosis (TB) remains a critical public health challenge that requires proactive screening, prompt diagnosis, and early intervention.

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 129, Malacañang orders alternative work arrangements for government offices and alternative learning modes for public and private schools in NCR and 17 provinces on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, due to inclement weather brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat.

𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍: Manila City Mayor Suspends F2F Classes on Aug. 18

Following the recommendation of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MDRRMD), Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes at all levels tomorrow, August 18, 2026, due to inclement weather brought by the southwest moonsoon or 'Habagat'.

In line with this, EAC-M has yet to announce the learning modality to be implemented tomorrow.
