If you saw weird dips in traffic from AI Overviews lately, it wasnโt just you. Google just admitted there was a bug messing with how AI Overview clicks were being tracked in Search Console.
Basically, the clicks were there, but we just couldnโt see them properly. They rolled out a fix, so if your stats suddenly โmagicallyโ go up, itโs not your SEO skills leveling up overnight (or maybe it is, you legend).
Honestly, this kind of explains the random โwhat even is thisโ traffic reports Iโve seen the past few weeks. Iโve had a couple of clients asking why views dropped, and all I could say was โGoogleโs being Google again.โ ๐คทโโ๏ธ
The wild part? The clients who stayed consistent with their on-page and keyword strategy are still getting steady results. AI this, AI thatโฆ but SEO basics still carry weight. The shiny tools are fun (Iโve been toying with Make this week), but they donโt replace quiet consistencyโฆat least not yet.
In another news, weโve had some SERP volatility for a couple of my clientsโis it me or is it Google? Algoroo says there is some algo volatility.
