The Centre for Neighbourhood Studies (CeNS) invites you to its online TalaKalayaan Series: “KALINGA, KAALAMAN AT KAPITBAYANIHAN SA LAURA AT BEATRIZ”: Forum on Partnerships for Neighborhood Health Care and Awareness in Laura and Villa Beatriz” to be held on 15 July 2021, Thursday from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
The discussion will feature the experiences of two Quezon City neighbourhoods’ on partnerships for health care and service provision and continuing health awareness through its Komisyon ng Kalusugan program and services offered in the Lingkod Kalusugan Health Station. It further seeks to identify implications for planning on health and urban development and health literacy. Partnerships for this neighbourhood initiative is viewed to contribute to localization of sustainable development goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 3 Health and Wellbeing.

The Centre for Neighbourhood Studies joins the PASCAL Learning Cities Networks (LCN). LCN are interactive policy-oriented groups of stakeholders within cities, sharing ideas and experiences directed at innovative responses to the big issues confronting cities. LCN also aims to link cities and allow them to exchange knowledge and experience on learning city development. CeNS will be represented by CeNS Vice President and COO, Atty. Mark Anthony M. Gamboa, and Neighbourhood Innovation and Solutions (NISD) Director, EnP Charlie Cabotaje.

The President & CEO of CeNS, Dr. Mario R. Delos Reyes, co-published an article in Sustainability titled “Managed Retreat as Adaptation Option: Investigating Different Resettlement Approaches and Their Impacts– Lessons from Metro Manila” with Mr. Hannes Lauer (doctoral candidate) and Prof. Dr. Joern Birkman (Director), both from the Institute of Spatial and Regional Planning, University of Stuttgart.
The paper presents the preliminary findings of work package 3 on Resilient Retreat from the research project “Linking Disaster Governance and Land Use Planning: The Case of Informal Settlers in Hazard Prone Areas in the Philippines (LIRLAP).” Dr. Delos Reyes was the Team Leader for the Philippines in the definition phase of the project. This project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).
