As early as clinical clerkship, medical students deliver health care to actual patients and take part in their diagnosis and management. Even during resuscitative processes, they participate in basic life support and engage with resident physicians and consultants in discussing the circumstances surrounding the demise of a patient and his/her actual cause of death. A more formally structured education on medical certification of cause of death (MCCOD), how to correctly complete a death certificate for the cause/s of death is warranted. This Topic, as part of Clinical Clerkship will familiarize them further with the MCCOD process and instill this important practice as a habit.
