The Department of Science and Technology - Misamis Occidental Innovation Hub conducted a training on the use of customizable drones on March 20 - 21, 2026. The two-day training equipped educators with fundamental knowledge and hands-on skills in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology.
Five (5) teaching personnel from the Misamis Occidental higher education institutions and senior high school participated in the activity, along with two (2) On-the-Job Trainees from DOST-MOC.
The Drones Reimagined for Educational Application and Modification (DREAM) system, developed by X-LIPAD, is supported by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).
๐ Day 1 Highlights:
Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of drone technology, including licensing requirements in the Philippines, the history and evolution of drones, and the principles of aerodynamics. An overview of the Mission Planner softwareโpart of the X-LIPAD packageโwas also discussed.
๐ Day 2 Highlights:
The training continued with hands-on activities such as assembling essential drone components and calibrating remote controllers, providing participants with real-world technical skills.
Beyond the classroom, the X-LIPAD DREAM system opens opportunities for applications in precision agriculture, search and rescue, aerial mapping and surveying, disaster management, and other research-driven initiatives, highlighting its real-world impact and relevance.
The DREAM system was procured through the National Innovation Grants. It is available for research use at the DOST Mis Occ iHub. Interested teachers/researchers/students may connect with us through the following channels to schedule a visit:
