PCU Expands Global Horizons through Internship Partnership with Mathayom Wat Maikrongtong School, Thailand.

Philippine Christian University formalized an internship partnership for the College of Education with Mathayom Wat Maikrongtong School in Thailand through a Memorandum of Agreement signed by Dr. Junifen F. Gauuan, Dr. Margie Dela Cruz, and Dr. Vida T. Dones, together with the partner school’s representatives. The collaboration provides students with international teaching experiences, strengthens their professional and cultural competencies, and prepares future educators for meaningful global engagement.

The Philippine Christian University proudly celebrates the remarkable success of its graduates in the September and November 2025 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). First-time takers achieved a 50% passing rate in the Elementary level and an impressive 88% passing rate in the Secondary level. Notably, the University’s Secondary-level institutional passing rate exceeded the national average, highlighting PCU’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence and quality teacher education.

The Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST), Hon. Feo, has publicly acknowledged the affiliation between Philippine Christian University (PCU) and Waigani Christian College (WCC), confirming the partnership as now officially declared.

The announcement marks a significant milestone for private higher education in Papua New Guinea, strengthening academic pathways and expanding opportunities for students under recognised international standards.

The development also reflects the continuing legacy of the Member for North Waghi, Hon. Benjamin Ngents Mul, whose long-standing contribution to education and human resource development remains evident. As the founder of Waigani Christian College, Hon. Mul’s vision has played a key role in building human capital and empowering thousands of Papua New Guineans through education.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 (𝙋𝘾𝙐) 𝘿𝙤𝙡𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙨 is a program that for a brief and shining moment dictated the terms of engagement in the NCAA.

They were the ultimate disruptors a school that entered the league in 1996 and, within eight years, dismantled the established order to claim the throne.

​The Dolphins are respected because they didn’t just win; they produced a blueprint for modern Philippine basketball.

They were a "pro factory," turning raw talent into national icons.

Even in their absence, their DNA remains scattered across the PBA and Gilas Pilipinas, a testament to the grit they instilled under the bright lights of the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

​𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬

​These are the men who carried the blue and silver into battle and came out as giants:

• ​𝙍𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙚 𝙍𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙨: The pioneer. A mid-70s MUCAA standout who proved that PCU develops not just athletes, but cultural icons.

Ricketts is the bridge between the old guard and the modern era. Before he was an icon of Philippine cinema, he was a standout for the Philippine Christian University basketball team in the MUCAA league during the mid-1970s.

Brought discipline and an actor's flair to the court, proving that the Dolphin spirit produces leaders in every arena of life.

• ​𝙅𝙖𝙮𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤: "The Blur." A two-time FIBA Asia All-Star and one of the PBA’s 40 Greatest.

• ​𝙂𝙖𝙗𝙗𝙮 𝙀𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙨: The history-maker. The first to win Rookie of the Year and Season MVP in the same year (2004).

• ​𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙪 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙜𝙖: The enforcer. A multi-time PBA champion and the gold standard for the modern "big man" with a high IQ.

• ​𝙍𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙯: The 2004 Finals MVP whose steady hand secured the ultimate prize.

• ​ 𝙅𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙥𝙪𝙯: defined the tough, unrelenting PCU defensive identity.

• 𝙉𝙚𝙡𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙊𝙢𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙣: A key player in the late 1990s who was known for his strong all-around game during his time with the Dolphins.

• 𝘽𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙤: Part of the core group during 2000s known for his contributions to the team's early success.

• 𝙅𝙍 𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙖: The starting point guard during PCU's 2004 NCAA championship run, prior to Jayson Castro taking over the primary ball-handling duties.

• 𝙇𝙞𝙨𝙯𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙤: A notable player on the 2004 championship roster.

• 𝙍𝙤𝙣𝙟𝙖𝙮 𝘽𝙪𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙛𝙚: While he later played in the PBA after his collegiate career at EAC, Buenafe began in the PCU Baby Dolphins (high school) program, where he was a standout player.

• 𝙅𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙘𝙪𝙖𝙡: Similarly to Buenafe, Pascual started his high school career as a PCU Baby Dolphin before moving to San Beda for college and eventually the PBA.

• 𝙉𝙞ñ𝙤 𝘿𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙤: A former PCU player who later returned to serve as an assistant coach for the team.

• ​The Junior Prodigies: Players like 𝙍𝙖𝙗𝙚𝙝 𝘼𝙡-𝙃𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞, 𝙅𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙘𝙪𝙖𝙡, and 𝘼𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙨, who showed the world that the "Baby Dolphins" program was second to none in scouting and development.

​This is the circle that broke the drought and established the Taft Avenue legacy. Under the iron hand of 𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝘼𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙤 these men functioned as a single, unstoppable unit.

Faced Letran twice in the Final Four and Sweep Perpetual 2 games to 0.

​I’ve watched many programs come and go, but what was built on Taft Avenue... that was something else. It was an empire of talent. You had mentors like 𝙅𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙡 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙞, 𝙅𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙮 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙤, and the great 𝘼𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙤, men who didn't just draw plays, they forged characters.

They took a school that was a newcomer and made the 'Old Guard' tremble.

​It’s a tragedy of the highest order that financial winds and administrative storms forced them to pull back.

A league like the NCAA is only as strong as its competition, and without the Dolphins, there is a certain... emptiness.

A lack of that specific hunger they brought to the hardwood.

​But I’m a man who believes in the right timing.

I look at the history, I look at the names, and I see a foundation that refuses to crumble.

To the PCU organization: there is no shame in a strategic retreat, provided the return is handled with the weight it deserves.

I’m making an observation here the day the Dolphins return to the NCAA, the balance of power will shift once again.

And when that day comes, I expect it to be handled with the same quiet authority they showed in 2004.

Until then, we wait. Because a program with that much 'hunger for the ball' never truly stays away forever."

​𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐏𝐂𝐔 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐍𝐂𝐀𝐀 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝

They didn't just win; they swept the finals against Perpetual Help, proving that a "small" school could outwork the giants.

• ​𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞: No former member has a higher "PBA success rate" per capita than PCU. When you see a PCU player, you know they can play under pressure.

• ​𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝: Under coaches like 𝘼𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙤, PCU was feared for a defensive press that suffocated opponents, a style that changed how collegiate ball was played in the early 2000s.

Pagpupugay sa mga Kampeon

Pagpupugay sa ating PCU Dolphins Juniors Basketball Team na matagumpay na nagwagi bilang Kampeon ng NAASCU Season 23. Ipinamalas ng koponan ang buong husay, disiplina, at pagkakaisa sa bawat laro hanggang sa makamit ang pinakaaasam na titulo. Ang tagumpay na ito ay bunga ng walang sawang pagsisikap, matibay na determinasyon, at suporta ng buong komunidad ng PCU. Isang espesyal na pagbati rin kay Alfie Jay Pacaldo na ginawaran ng parangal bilang Most Valuable Player (MVP) ng Juniors Division. Ang kanyang natatanging galing, pamumuno, at dedikasyon sa loob ng court ay naging mahalagang bahagi ng tagumpay ng koponan. Maraming salamat at mabuhay ang ating mga kampeon—patuloy ninyong binibigyang-karangalan ang PCU Dolphins at ang buong pamantasan.

Held last December 9–10, 2025, this two-day event once again provided our upcoming SHS Grade 12 graduates with an inspiring and informative showcase of the wide range of academic programs offered by PCU Manila.

Each college presented its flagship courses, student opportunities, and the distinctive learning environment shaped by our core values of 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞. The summit empowered future graduates to explore meaningful pathways as they prepare for their transition to higher education.
