Taas kamaong pagpupugay sa ating lahat na nagsipagtapos ngayong 2024!

As the days draw nearer to BSPH Class of 2024: Daglimhay’s graduation, let’s look back to their 𝗣𝗛 𝟭𝟵𝟱: 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜 deployment in Cavite (Magallanes, Naic, Maragondon, and Ternate) and Philippine General Hospital that’s definitely an experience worth ten out of ten! 💯

Three years of lectures, activities, and workshops on public health were tested as the 80-strong undergrads finally met the “public” in public health. 👬👭

Truly, the social determinants and challenges in health remain a huge hindrance to improving our current healthcare system. Hence, Daglimhay and CPH remain relentless in their mission to prevent diseases, prolong lives, and promote health. 🫡

From Zoom breakout rooms to Lara Hall classrooms, we faced and conquered every obstacle that came our way. It was a hard-fought journey full of learning, full of pain, full of growth, and full of change. We are BSPH Class of 2024 and from all the hardships – comes our new name 💫

𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐇𝐀𝐘

A word derived from three old Tagalog words — 𝗗𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯 (dɐ-ɣi-tɐb), def. spark; 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗸𝗮𝗱 (a-lim-bū-kad), def. full bloom; and 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗵𝗮𝘆 (Ta-lag-háy), def. own strength, resistance, resiliency.

Adversity has never been a new word in our vocabulary. Being the last takers of the UPCAT; being freshmen in an uncertain time of the pandemic; and the first batch to experience a full face-to-face junior year, our will and determination never wavered to these challenges. On the contrary, it made us stronger and more resilient, both as individuals and as a batch ready to take on any challenge public health may give us.

Throughout our stay in Lara Hall, we all experienced our own daglimhay — our own metamorphoses, not only to satisfy standards set by ourselves and the prestige of the university, but also to attain the standards of being catalysts to ideal and effective healthcare that all of our countrymen deserve.

𝘋𝘢𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘩𝘢𝘺. A word that is very close to home for all of us, as its gentle utterance resembles the gentle atmosphere of words such as tahanan, hayahay and dahan. For all of us, Daglimhay feels and will always be home.

And as we leave Lara Hall and venture out to whatever public health endeavor that the future may hold for each one of us, we can surely say that Daglimhay and our work as public health professionals will always be a spark towards the inevitable blossoming of healthcare and society we all deserve.
