The UPM USC, together with Tulong Kabataan UP Manila, will launch and set up a donation dropbox inside the UPM OUR Compound. This initiative will be launched to support stranded students, displaced workers, and all that will need relief goods due to the impending Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Last year, the alliance led a successful effort in launching a month-long community kitchen in Marikina for the series of typhoons that hit the country. This year, many have lost their jobs and a lot of communities did not receive enough support during the re-imposition of the enhanced community quarantine in their areas. We want to continue reaching out to our countrymen especially in this time of great need, and, thus, we have initiated community pantries in Taft, Manila (in partnership with UP Manila University Student Council and Iglesia Filipina Independiente National Cathedral Committee on Social Concerns), Maybunga, Pasig (in cooperation with Sining Bugkos), and in Maysapang, Taguig (spearheaded by the Nagkakaisang Residente ng Maysapang HOAI).

We would like to send our heartfelt gratitude to all individuals, groups and institutions who worked hard to help us recover and retrieve our 108,000-strong official page. Our page was hacked and robbed to our pool of admins last June 16, 2021 and was flooded by various Indonesian contents.

Special mention to Ms. Noemi Lardizabal-Dado, Mr. Tonyo Cruz, . Inday Espina-Varona, Ms. Len Olea, Bon Lang, Altermidya, Access Now Digital Security Helpline, Facebook Philippines for their assistance and support in our fight against this recent cyber attack against our organization.

Upon recovering our account today, we have identified the foreign-national hacker who tried to stole our page from our Filipino workers, here and abroad, who depend on the information and services we provide for them. This recent cyber attack will not stop us from continuing our services to our Filipino workers.

No one deserves to be attacked.

That is why we will be more vigilant and vow to step-up our security measures on all our social media platforms, so that these kind of incidents will not happen again in the future.
