PWU JASMS Manila

Today, December 16, 2025, Grades 7–10 held a program entitled “Christmas Traditions in the Hispanic Countries,” led by their Spanish teacher, Ms. Maria Lorena Carrasco-Lima, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Multipurpose Hall.

The following musical and cultural performances were presented:
Grade 8: Las Posadas y Villancico – “Los Peces en el Río” (Spain)
Grade 9: Villancico de Venezuela – “Mi Burrito Sabanero”
Grade 10: Los Reyes Magos y Villancico – “Llegaron Ya los Reyes” (Argentina)
Grade 9: Villancico – “Campana sobre Campana” (Spain, Andalucía)

This program provided students with a meaningful opportunity to appreciate the rich cultural heritage and Christmas traditions of Hispanic countries while enhancing their confidence, creativity, and performance skills. It also fostered cultural awareness, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of the Spanish language through music and storytelling.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents who attended and supported the program. Your presence and encouragement greatly contributed to the success of this event.

First Holy Communion | December 5, 2025
Last December 5, our students solemnly received their First Holy Communion, marking an important spiritual milestone in their journey of faith. We pray that this sacred moment continues to strengthen their relationship with God and inspire them to live with compassion, gratitude, and grace.

JASMS FACULTY SEMINAR: Supporting Neurodiverse Learners in Inclusive Classrooms

On November 28, 2025, the JASMS faculty participated in a 3-hour seminar on “Supporting Neurodiverse Learners in Inclusive Classrooms”, with Dr. Genevieve Rivadelo-Caballa—educator, pediatric physiotherapist, and inclusive education advocate—as the resource speaker.

At JASMS, we value understanding the diverse learning needs, abilities, and behaviors of our students. This seminar aimed to help teachers deepen their awareness of inclusive practices and explore approaches that may support a wider range of learners in the classroom.

A Talk on Climate Change Awareness

On November 28, 2025 (9–11 AM), our Preschool to Grade 6 students joined a 2-hour interactive session with the WeGeneration Initiative on climate change and sustainable living.

Resource Speakers:

Preschool to Grade 3: Flordeliza N. Almoete, assisted by Maria Fe V. Velarde — captivated students with creative storytelling about caring for the environment.

Grades 4 to 6: Ina Alleco R. Silverio, assisted by Francis P. Villabroza — began with a simple experiment, leading to a discussion on what climate change is—its causes and effects—and guided students on practical ways to live sustainably, including conserving resources, reducing waste, using materials helpful for the Earth, and planting trees and greenery.

Students were encouraged to apply what they learned at home, in school, and in their communities, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and care for our planet.

November 25, 2025 marked a memorable outdoor learning day for our Preschool to Grade 4 pupils as they explored three exciting destinations each offering new knowledge, real-life experiences, and moments of pure joy.

Gardenia Factory – A Fascinating Look at Bread-Making

Our learners discovered how bread is made on a large, fully automated production line. They were amazed to see how many loaves are produced in just one day, moving through spiral coolers and conveyor belts, all untouched by human hands. It was a fun and eye-opening visit that showed how fresh, safe, and nutritious bread reaches every home.

Banana Catsup Museum – A Taste of Filipino Ingenuity

At the Banana Catsup Museum in Cabuyao, Laguna, pupils learned how banana catsup was created when tomatoes were scarce and bananas were abundant. They discovered the story of Filipina food technologist Maria Orosa, who developed this iconic condiment to make Filipino households more self-sufficient.

The children explored colorful displays, fun facts, and the model showing how banana catsup is made—from harvesting to bottling. They also enjoyed the huge BANa character and the bright, creative food displays. It was a meaningful stop that highlighted Filipino creativity, resourcefulness, and love for food.

Sta. Elena Fun Farm – Learning Through Play and Adventure

Every moment at the Fun Farm was a chance to explore, imagine, and build confidence. Pupils as young as 2 years old enjoyed rope and obstacle courses, animal feeding, horse riding, mini zip-lining, boating, and even a ride on a carabao-pulled cart around the farm.

Each activity encouraged discovery, courage, and hands-on learning, while allowing the children to enjoy nature, play actively, and create lasting memories. It was a perfect environment for learning outside the classroom.

Learning happens everywhere—and some of the best lessons in life are found beyond the four walls of the classroom.

We hope more parents and pupils will join us in future trips to discover, explore, and enjoy hands-on learning together!

ANNOUNCEMENT | Suspension of Face-to-Face Classes for November 25, 2025

In line with the suspension of face-to face-classes, we will hold online synchronous classes at 1:30 PM to allow students sufficient time to return home.

Our Senior Boy Scouts’ Investiture Camp-In and Senior Girl Scouts’ Camp-In
November 21–22, 2025
Last November 21, 2025, our Senior Boy Scouts and Senior Girl Scouts held their Investiture and Camp-In — a meaningful and memorable experience for all our scouts. This year’s Senior Boy Scouts’ Investiture theme was “Service, Innovation, and Scouting for All,” highlighting the scouts’ commitment to inclusive leadership, creative problem-solving, and wholehearted service.
We were honored to have our alumna, Mr. Nico Narvaez, as our guest speaker, who inspired our scouts with his message on service, leadership, and living the true spirit of scouting.
On November 22, our scouts continued with their skill-building activities. We invited Teacher Tes Ilano to teach Knot Tying, and a PWU Nurse to conduct a session on First Aid Bandaging. These sessions helped strengthen their practical skills in safety, problem-solving, and emergency readiness.
During breakfast time, selected Senior Girl Scouts and Senior Boy Scouts took the lead in cooking breakfast for everyone.
Overall, the two-day event was filled with learning, service, and camaraderie — a true reflection of what scouting is all about.

On November 19, 2025, our Grades 5–8 students embarked on an educational trip, starting with the rich history of the Philippines at Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, appreciating timeless treasures at Museo De La Salle, and then traveling across continents without leaving the country at Ticket to the World in Dasmariñas, Cavite. 🏛️🖼️✈️

A day of exploring history, admiring antiques and vintage wonders, and discovering the cultures that make our world so beautifully diverse! 🌍💛

In view of the peaceful rally organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta, and following the announcement of the Local Government of Manila suspending on-site classes at all levels in both public and private schools on November 17–18, 2025, CLASSES in PWU and PWU-JASMS Manila shall shift to synchronous online modality.

WORK OPERATIONS shall likewise shift to remote work arrangements, except for personnel involved in critical administrative services. All Manila campuses will be closed during this period.

Faculty members who require access to the campus to conduct online classes may coordinate with the Office of the Vice President for Administration through their respective Administrators.

Students processing their applications and enrollment for the 2nd Trimester, SY 2025–2026 may continue to do so online via www.pwu.edu.ph.

Based on the latest forecast of PAGASA, Metro Manila is now under TCWS No. 1 and Typhoon is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by tomorrow, Nov. 11, thus ONLINE SYNCHRONOUS CLASSES in PWU Taft and ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES in PWU-JASMS Campuses (Manila and QC) shall resume tomorrow, Nov. 11, 2025.

REMOTE WORK OPERATIONS shall also resume tomorrow, Nov. 11, for all PWU and PWU JASMS Campuses.

Students processing their applications and enrollment for the 2nd Trimester, SY 2025–2026 may continue to do so online via www.pwu.edu.ph.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

In line with Malacañang’s announcement suspending classes in all levels in both public and private schools due to the expected impact of Typhoon , ONSITE and ONLINE SYNCHRONOUS CLASSES in all PWU and PWU-JASMS Campuses (Manila and QC) are suspended on November 10–11, 2025.

Provided Metro Manila is no longer under signal no. 3, Faculty may only assign asynchronous activities beginning November 11, provided no deadlines will be set for the same date.

Meanwhile, WORK OPERATIONS (onsite and remote) shall be suspended tomorrow, November 10, 2025.�Except for critical administrative services, all campuses will be closed.

Work operations on November 11, 2025 shall be announced later pending further updates.
