Discrimination, harassment, and prejudice toward the indigenous peoples of the country are not new issues. Particularly the Tausugs of the Southern Philippines, like any other ethnic group, face these challenges in their present reality.
is an advocacy page initiated by first-year FEU college students. We aim to inform, create a discussion, and spread awareness of the life, experience, and everyday challenges faced by the Tausugs.
We encourage everyone to join the campaign. It may be a small initiative, but it is the beginning of a large-scale movement to end violence against the Tausugs as well as other indigenous peoples of the country.

Tausug youth and women are discriminated against for having the faith they practice and believe.
The discrimination starts from non-Muslim Filipinos who have prejudices towards the practicing minority. Biases stem from stereotyping that can be observed as we scroll through our social media accounts. Non-Muslim Filipinos view the minority group as someone they can not trust, with violent tendencies, and should be avoided at all costs. Some of the discrimination they experience is when they are forbidden from practicing their faith at workplaces. Many women are told to remove their hijabs because it's not office attire-friendly (International Alert, 2018).
What can you do?
Start educating yourself about the diversity of different IP groups in the Philippines, and unlearn significant prejudices that are just as harmful to our Tausug friends as much as to you. It starts if we take the initiative to understand that their clothing or names should not be the reason to castrate them from society. They are showing us history, and we must learn to appreciate and respect it.
