The Department of Science and Technology โ Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI), through its Nuclear Reactor Operations Section, successfully conducted the โTraining on Electrical Power Resilience using the Generic Pressurized Water Reactor (GPWR) Simulatorโ on July 21โ22, 2025, at the PNRI facility in Quezon City.
This specialized training is part of the NuSIM Project, which aims to build a high-fidelity nuclear power plant simulator for capacity-building and R&D under the Philippine Nuclear Energy Program. Participants explored the fundamentals of nuclear power plant operations, practiced system monitoring using the GPWR simulator, and engaged in hands-on simulation activitiesโresponding to real-world scenarios such as power loss, voltage disturbance, and frequency fluctuations.
