UST Civil Engineering Faculty at CIGOS 2026 in Vietnam

The UST Department of Civil Engineering congratulates Asst. Prof. Ryan A. Ramirez, PhD, for his successful oral presentation at the 18th International Conference on Geotechnics, Civil Engineering and Structures (CIGOS 2026), held last April 16-17 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Dr. Ramirez presented the undergraduate research titled "Numerical Investigation of the Slope Stability of Road Embankment Derived from Mixed Recycled Concrete Aggregates and Granular Soil." Completed during A.Y. 2024-2025, the study was co-authored by Vanessa Bianca Cadsawan, Charles Khao, Mark Kevin Ogalino, and Rendel John Reyes.

The research, which aligns with the conference theme "Innovation in Planning, Design and Civil Infrastructure for Resilient and Sustainable Transformation," is set to be published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering series and will be indexed in Scopus. This achievement underscores the Department’s commitment to advancing sustainable infrastructure on the global stage.

The Philippine Association of Engineering Schools (PAES), Inc. proudly announced its official recognition and partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), marking a significant milestone in advancing engineering education in the country.

This landmark achievement highlighted the appointment of the six distinguished PAES officers to serve as members of CHED Technical Panels for the period 2025–2028. Their appointments underscore the growing influence of PAES in shaping national policies and academic standards in engineering and engineering technology programs.

•Dr. Lean Karlo Tolentino, PAES Secretary, Dean of the College of Engineering, Technological University of the Philippines – Manila — Technical Panel for Electrical Engineering

•Dr. Cristina Amor Rosales, PAES Public Relations Officer, Dean of the College of Engineering, Batangas State University — Technical Panel for Civil Engineering

•Dr. Kathleen Aviso, PAES Director for NCR, Dean of the Gokongwei College of Engineering, De La Salle University – Manila — Technical Panel for Chemical Engineering

•Dr. Angelo Dela Cruz, PAES Director for NCR, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Santo Tomas — Technical Panel for Electronics Engineering

This collaboration between PAES and CHED is expected to strengthen the development of engineering curricula, enhance academic standards, and ensure that Philippine engineering education remains globally competitive.
