The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has ordered the outright closure and revocation of the Government Recognition of Our Lady of Mercy College in Borongan City, effective AY 2025-2026, due to non-compliance with the Policies, Standards, and Guidelines.

CHED ordered the closure and revocation of the BEEd and Midwifery programs and took action against its Criminology and Nursing programs after they were found to be non-compliant.

CHED will assist affected students in transferring to other reputable institutions, with fourth-year students allowed to complete their studies by the end of AY 2024-2025.

COCOPEA releases a statement urging a comprehensive review of House Bill 11213, titled β€œAn Act Providing Education Pathways for Basic Education Students,” that will render senior high school and tech-voc programs as optional for students.
