𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗮𝗻 (𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟮–𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟲) was a visionary mechanical engineer and roboticist best known for inventing the 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝘼𝙧𝙢, the world’s first computer-controlled, electrically powered robotic arm.
Developed in the late 1960s at Stanford University, this innovative robot revolutionized automation by introducing 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 to robotic systems. Its design laid the foundation for modern industrial robots and became the blueprint for robotic arms used in automobile manufacturing, electronics assembly, and medical applications.
Scheinman’s work bridged the gap between academic research and industrial automation, making him one of the key figures in the birth of modern robotics.
