Kaisa ang buong Kagawaran ng Edukasyon (DepEd) sa paggunita sa kabayanihan ni Dr. Jose Rizal ngayong Disyembre 30, sa pagdiriwang ng Rizal Day.

Sa ika-129 na anibersaryo ng kanyang pagpanaw, ating alalahanin hindi lamang ang kanyang sakripisyo, kundi isabuhay ang mga aral na kanyang iniwan: ang malalim na pagmamahal sa bayan, paninindigan sa katotohanan, at pananalig sa kapangyarihan ng edukasyon.

𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗜 𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗟 𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗔𝗬

Sa araw na ito 129 taon ang nakararaaan, binitay sa pammagitan ng pagbaril si Jose Rizal sa Bagumbayan (kilala ngayon bilang Liwasang Rizal Luneta). Pinaratangan ng mga Espanyol si Rizal bilang diwa ng Himagsikan laban sa pamahalaang kolonyal.

Bilang pag-alaala sa kaniya at sa mga Pilipinong nagbuwis ng buhay sa landas ng paglaya, itinalaga ni Pangulong Emilio Aguinaldo ang ika-30 ng Disyembre bilang pista opisyal at pambansang araw ng pagluluksa.

Magkakaroon ng pag-aalay ng bulaklak sa puntod ni Rizal sa Pambansang Bantayog ni Jose Rizal, Liwasang Rizal Luneta, Maynila. Magkakaroon din ng lektura at art workshop sa NHCP Museo ni Jose Rizal Fort Santiago (Dambanang Jose Rizal Fort Santiago) sa Intramuros, Maynila.

𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦 𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗢 𝗗𝗔𝗬

Senator Loren B. Legarda will lead the commemoration of the 162nd birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio on 30 November 2025, 8:00 AM at the Bonifacio National Monument, Caloocan City. She will be joined by NHCP Chairperson Regalado Trota Jose Jr., AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner, Representative Oscar G. Malapitan of the 1st District of Caloocan, Representative Edgar R. Erice of the 2nd District of Caloocan, Representative Dean Asistio of the 3rd District of Caloocan, Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan, Caloocan City Vice-Mayor Karina Teh-Limsico and descendant of the hero, Atty. Arsenio Bonifacio.

With the theme: ‘Isang Bayan, Isang Laban: Katapatan at Katarungan Kontra Katiwalian,’ the commemoration serves to call on Filipinos to stand together in the fight for truth and justice, especially in these trying times.

Wreaths were also offered in other monuments to Bonifacio in his birthplace in Tutuban Center, Manila; Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine in San Juan City; Cloverleaf in Quezon City; and Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

Andres Bonifacio is one of the Philippines’ national heroes. He co-founded the Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangan, Katipunan ng mga anak ng Bayan or the K*K in 1892 and later became the leader of this underground organization that sought to liberate the country from Spanish colonial rule. The movement initiated the Filipino Revolution then and ultimately won Philippine independence from Spain in 1898.

Created through Act No. 2946 approved on 16 February 1921, Bonifacio Day is the second-oldest history-based national holiday following Rizal Day which was created by a decree of President Emilio Aguinaldo on 20 December 1898. For a long time, it was also celebrated as National Heroes Day until it was scheduled separately through another legislative act in 1931.

𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗢𝗕𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) in cooperation with the Department of National Defense and the City of Taguig will hold a commemorative program at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Taguig City on 25 August 2025 for the observance of National Heroes Day.

With the theme ‘Isang Diwa, Isang Lahi, Isang Bayanihan,’ President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. will lead the commemoration as Guest of Honor with Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr., AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner, NHCP Chairman Regalado Trota Jose Jr., and Taguig City Mayor Ma. Laarni “Lani” Cayetano also taking part in the observance.

Republic Act No. 9492 designated the last Monday of August as National Heroes Day, serving as an opportunity for the nation to remember the sacrifices and contributions of all Filipino heroes and the bravery they exemplified for our people.

This year’s commemoration will include an unveiling of the monument ‘Unsung Heroes,’ also at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), with the support of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), led the commemoration of the 42nd Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. this morning, 21 August 2025, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Parañaque City.

Aquino IV (Bam Aquino), NHCP Chair Regalado Trota Jose, Jr., Human Rights Violations Victims' Memorial Commission (HRVVMC) Executive Director Carmelo Victor A. Crisanto, MIAA Public Relations Chief Feliciana J. Santos with New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation Assistant Terminal Manager Apolonio Mendoza, Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation, Inc. Executive Director Ma. Cristina V. Rodriguez, ATOM - August Twenty-One Movement President Volt Bohol, Dr. Michael Charleston "Xiao" Chua for NAMSERV, Ms. Rebecca Quijano for the Joaquin "Chino" P. Roces Foundation, and Mrs. Cecille Guidote-Alvarez of the Earthsaver DREAMS Ensemble.

This program is part of a series of activities organized for the commemoration of Ninoy Aquino Day by various organizations.

Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. was a leading opposition figure during the Martial Law period. After an almost decade long period of incarceration, he went into exile in the United States to undergo urgent surgery and later rehabilitation. During his exile, he continued to champion for the rescission of Martial Law and the return of democratic rule in his homeland. On 21 August 1983, he returned from exile and was arrested by state forces upon arrival at the then-Manila International Airport.

While he was being moved into custody, he was assassinated at the tarmac of the airport which would later be renamed in his memory. His death is widely recognized as a watershed moment in the history of Martial Law in the Philippines and is often cited as one of the early manifestations of People Power after millions of Filipinos from all walks of life participated in his funeral procession. In 2004, Republic Act No. 9256 proclaimed 21 August of every year as Ninoy Aquino Day which is a special nationwide non-working holiday.
