:Many may know the effects of these illegal substances that my seem tempting to curious minds - relief, hype and others. But after that momentary relief and clarity, what comes next are the consequences that may be the result of the intake. Side-effects may vary on an individual, merely because we operate differently and tolerate things differently too.

:Teenagers are naturally curious, but sometimes this curiosity can lead them down a dangerous path. This is where our role as guardians come into play. We need to be an adult figure they know they can reach out to without judgement and fear. Listed below are the factors why some teenagers turn to usage of illicit substances. They are currently at a stage in their life where they are open to experiences, it is our jobs as guardian to guide them to the right path and educate them on things that may lead them to harm- we play a key role in their lives, that is why we must be their first line of defense.

:The youth remains at the very center of our crusade against the usage and trafficking of illicit substances. The fact that these substances significantly harm a fully-developed adult- how much damage would it cause an undeveloped teenager? You can see on the infographic below the various risk factors for teens associating themselves with these substances. It all starts with curiosity- unfortunately for some, it ends with dependency at an early age.

: The key to helping teenagers stay away from these illegal substances starts with the people they surround themselves with. They need to be a part of a safe circle of friends or family where they can easily reach out without fear of judgement and anger. If they feel safe enough to reach out to people for guidance, they wouldn't have to explore dangerous paths all on their own. Start the conversation with your loved ones now.
