WHY REVIEW DURING SUMMER
You are probably thinking whether to take summer review program or an intensive one from June to August.
Take it from us. We were also products of TWO REVIEW PROGRAMS during summer--a review program while we were in high school preparing for the UPCAT and another after we finished our undergraduate courses as reviewers/lecturers.
Here are the reasons why we advise taking review classes during summer.
1. You are in vacation. Instead of staycation at home, why not attend review classes? You have something to keep yourself busy with and you are doing something worthwhile.
2. You will meet new friends. There are students from different schools who take review classes so you will definitely meet new people who can be your friends.
3. You will learn your strengths and weaknesses. Before the start of review, diagnostic test will be given to measure how much you already know. It also allows the reviewers to assess where you need help. Moreover, during review classes sets of quizzes are given providing you the opportunity to know how much effort you need to exert on which subject area.
4. You will broaden your knowledge. You will discover things that you probably never have encountered (i.e. shortcuts and techniques in Mathematics). The review does not only serve as a mere REview but also an EYE-OPENER. Shocking as it may sound, students discover that their learning in school is not enough to make them pass college admission tests, and that there are facts, information and skills they should have acquired in school but have not.
5. Above all, you will have MORE time to review. You will realize that there are things you already have forgotten that need refreshing. You will discover the subject areas you have hard time with EARLIER, allowing you more time to improve on those areas. (Tip: Taking intensive review programs while attending Grade 12 classes is not advisable since you are already busy especially with your research classes.)
Bottom line, reviewing during summer gives you an ample time to prepare for various college admission tests and scholarship exams.
