Mirasol Memorial School (AMMS) is one of the oldest intermediate schools in the District of Mandurriao in the City of Iloilo. The school was donated by the childless couple, Don Alejandro and Doña Jovita Mirasol. Before the 2nd World War, with only one (1) Gabaldon Building, constructed in 1917, the school was named MIRASOL INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL, with grades I – VII. The building was occupied by th
e Japanese soldiers and was made garrison. Destroyed after World War II, it was rehabilitated with the aid of funds provided by the people of United States of America through an appropriation by the congress under the Philippine Rehabilitation act of 1946. The school was no longer an Intermediate School but was a satellite school of Mandurriao Central Elementary School under Mr. All grade four pupils were housed in this school. Later as school grew in population it accepted pupils from Grade I to IV with Mr. It was in the school year 1968-1969 that the school again was made a complete elementary school with Mr. Daniel Porras as the first principal and Mrs. Ilano as the first grade six teachers with one teacher for each grade. The school made a remarkable growth in population that to date it has a total population of 642 pupils including Kindergarten with 21 teachers and one (1) Principal. A. Mirasol Memorial School was turned over to the City of Iloilo on September 11, 1950. The school has complete element grades from Grades I-VI. There are four (4) sections in Grade I, the sections in Grade II are three(3), two (2) sections in Grades III, three(3) sections in Grade IV, the sections in Grade V and Grade VI are three (3) with a total of 17 sections. The school has one (1) Principal, 17 National Funded Teachers, 3 locally funded teacher s and 1 kindergarten teacher funded by the Division of Iloilo City, with a total of 22 personnel’s with 642 pupils including the kindergarten.

AMMS has an area of 10,000 square meters with seventeen (17) classrooms from Grades I-VI, one (1) Kindergarten room, one (1) Clinic room, one (1) Principal’s office, one P.E. room, one (1) canteen, one (1) shop room, one (1) Learning Resource Center. Mandurriao is the fifth District of Iloilo City, where A. MIRASOL MEMORIAL SCHOOL is situated. It is seven (7) kilometers away from the heart of Iloilo City. One may reach Mandurriao through Jaro District and Molo District. It is where the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) is located formerly known as Iloilo Provincial Hospital. It has a secondary school operating known as the Mandurriao National High School which is adjacent to A. Mirasol Memorial School. The Regional Health Office and the Civil-Service Commission are government agencies having offices in the said district. Several commercial establishments like SM City and Iloilo Supermart are operating in this locality. First class Memorial Parks and Subdivisions are located in this place. MIRASOL MEMORIAL SCHOOL comprises six (6) neighboring barangays namely: Brgy. Airport, Brgy. Dungon, Brgy. Sta. Rosa, Block 22 PHHC, Block 17 PHHC, Brgy. Abeto where the school is located. Prominent Manduriaonon families in America namely Trespeces donated School Supplies to the Grade I Pupils, 150 Pcs. Developing Reading Power 2 Textbook to the Grade II Pupils and 150 Pcs. Let’s Do Mathematics 3Textbook to the Grade III Pupils, Villarete and Javas donated one unit computer, in the school. The school concrete fencing was made possible through the effort of the AMMS graduates and the community stakeholders. Former Raul Gonzales Sr. also donated Kiddies plastic chairs to the kindergarten pupils. Through the help of our Former City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, the fulfillment of the construction of a three-span covered court came into a realization and the repair / rehabilitation of Gabaldon Building through the effort of the incumbent City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog. The tremendous collaborative efforts too of the PTA and Teachers’ Club school projects were greatly affected thereby contributed to the improvement of the school facilities.
