Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III is reportedly facing an alleged attempt by a powerful circle of contractors with long-standing political ties to remove him from his post as he advances a series of anti-corruption reforms in the House of Representatives. The alleged effort surfaced after Dy reiterated full cooperation with the ongoing investigation into irregularities in infrastructure and flood-control projects.

Dy said the House has remained firm in supporting the joint case referral filed by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) before the Office of the Ombudsman. He emphasized that transparency and accountability would continue to guide the chamber.

“Since the first day of my term as Speaker, we have emphasized that the House will respect the mandate of the ICI and we will cooperate without hesitation in all its investigations,” Dy said in Filipino. “We believe that the truth should not be concealed and that those responsible must be held accountable.”

Several contractor groups with long-standing political ties were reported to have concerns about Dy’s reform agenda. These groups had previously operated in an environment where multibillion-peso pork-barrel kickbacks had been documented in earlier investigations, and Dy’s proposed measures are expected to restrict opportunities for such arrangements.

Central to Dy’s reform effort is the Independent Commission Against Infrastructure Corruption (ICI) Bill, which aims to create an independent investigative body tasked with probing ghost projects, anomalous contracts, and substandard public works—particularly within the flood-control program.

“Hindi sapat ang galit; kailangan natin ng solusyon,” Dy said. “The ICI Bill will help ensure accountability for those involved in corruption in flood-control projects. There will be zero delays in the passage of this measure because our people have zero tolerance for corruption.”

Dy added that the House intends to pass the bill without delay to address long-standing concerns in infrastructure procurement and project implementation.

The House leader is also pushing the Anti-Dynasty Bill, which seeks to fully implement a constitutional directive by defining what constitutes a political dynasty. Dy said the measure aims to promote fair competition and broaden participation in governance.

“Panahon na upang harapin ang isa pang usapin na matagal nang nakasaad sa ating Konstitusyon: ang pagpapatupad ng batas laban sa political dynasty,” he said. “Ang layunin nito ay hindi upang hadlangan ang sinuman, kundi upang palawakin ang pagkakataon para sa mas maraming Pilipino na makapaglingkod.”

Dy said the two measures form part of the House leadership’s commitment to earning public trust through policy actions.

“Patunayan po natin, hindi lamang sa salita kundi sa gawa, na bukas at handa tayong makinig sa ating mga kababayan,” he said. “Seryosong reporma ang tanging daan tungo sa mas maayos, mas makatarungan, at mas maunlad na Pilipinas.”
