1. What courses are being offered by Smart Kids Learning Center?
A: Nursery and Kindergarten only (Prep classes are no longer offered in preschool because of K to 12)
2. Do you accept 2 yr old toddler?
A: We dont. We only accept 3 1/2 for Nursery then 4 1/2 for Kindergarten. (Please note that we will accept your child as soon as they turn 3 1/2 yrs old for Nursery and 4 1/2 yrs old for Kindergarten by the month of June)
3. What are the time slots of the classes?
A: There are three sessions per day, Mondays to Fridays as follows:
8:00am - 10:30am (Kindergarten)
10:30am - 12:30am (Nursery)
12:30am - 3:00pm (Kindergarten)
4. What is the average class size?
A: We have a total of 6 classes per day that has 26 students per class supervised by two teachers
5. What is the method of teaching?
A: SKLC utilises the approach of combining progressive method with the traditional method of teaching. Progressive method is the active interaction of teacher and students, while the traditional method is to allow students to write what is written on the board and follow instructions given by the teacher as seat work, recitation or test.
6. How do students learn the basics?
A: Students listen to the teacher and respond to instructions. Here are the subjects offered:
Speaking - phonetic sounds recited verbally as a group, or individually.
Writing - visual aids such as pictures, alphabet letters, identifying sounds and supervised individually.
Reading - telling stories and group exercises on the alphabet, vowels, consonant blends, etc.
Math - counting numbers, identifying shapes and figures; counting objects
Music - singing songs and listening to music for action exercises or dance
Values Information - group morning prayer sang by students, visual aids showing respect to elders and parents, story telling on good relationships that has a moral lesson.
Arts appreciation - classroom artistic expression through pictures, simple paper folding, crayon or watercolour painting, field trips showing the different sites where students learn to love art from museums and parks.
7. How do we ensure the safety of our child?
A: We do have an aide posted near the door to ensure that the kids won’t leave the school without us knowing it and also, we don’t just give the child to anybody who’s fetching him or her unless endorsed by the parents.
8. What are the documents needed upon enrolment?
A: Just bring a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate and please bring the child with you for assessment.
9. What are the terms of payment?
