The purpose of naming a cell or group of cells is to use the name when you call that cell or group of cells. Calling the name means when you want to use it as an argument to your formula.

It's important that you name your cell logically so that it's easier for you to remember it.

For example you have SALES in cells A1:A10. Highlight the cells (don't include the heading) and change the name in the name box as shown in the picture. Now for the purpose of this tutorial, I'll name that Sales.

Now when I want for example to have the total of that group of cells I'd say =SUM(Sales).

In the name box on the upper left, just below the ribbon (beside the formula bar), you can change the name of the selected cells/range of cells by typing your desired name

• Nested Function – a function as an argument to another function

o Nested IF FUNCTIONS
ï‚§ Syntax: IF(condition, [value if TRUE], IF(condition, [value if TRUE], [value if FALSE]))

ï‚§ The formula tests the condition on the first TRUE value, and then ignores everything else.

• MATCH FUNCTION - Exact Match Type (Lookup & Reference) – returns the relative position of the value in a range of cells

o Syntax: MATCH(lookup value, lookup array, [match type])
 Lookup value – the value to search for in an array

 Lookup array – the range of cells lookup value will be searched from

 Match type – type of desired match

0 (zero) – finds the exact match
