History of Isaac Lopez Integrated School
Isaac Lopez Integrated School, one of the nineteen schools in Mandaluyong, is located along Ilino Cruz Street, Vergara, Mandaluyong City. It has a land area of 6, 800 square meters that was purchased from Ortigas – Madrigal estate by the late Isaac Lopez, a former mayor of the City, on November 21, 1934. Due to the road widening, the land area occupied by the school decreased to 6, 650 sq. On November 21, 1934, the construction of the one – storey building with two classrooms started and was completed on February 21, 1935. The building was named Namayan Primary School which housed Grades I and II classes. When war broke out, this was used by the Japanese Army as their headquarters. After the war, classes resumed and the first sanitary comfort room of the school was constructed on August 18, 1949. This was followed by the construction of two additional classrooms for Grades III and IV on February 1951 and July 2, 1951, respectively. A small room along the porch was used as a school clinic. In 1961, the one – storey building of Grades I and II was reconstructed to a two – storey, Namayan Primary School was renamed Isaac Lopez Elementary School, in honor of the late Mayor Isaac Lopez. Isaac Lopez Elementary School was converted to an integrated school known as Isaac Lopez Integrated School through Republic Act No. 9300 which was approved on July 28, 2003. For 77 years of providing quality education, the school has now a new four – story Neptali Gonzales with 48 rooms and on August 24, 2012, the three – storey building with 43 classrooms (which was merged Bagong Lipunan and Old Neptali Gonzales Building) was inaugurated and the ground – breaking of the covered court took place. The school has already two science laboratories, two libraries, one speech laboratory, two guidance offices, one clinic, one Home Economics room, one feeding room and one for the Kitchen Specials for children with special needs. Looking at ILIS now, great changes can be observed and attributed to the untiring efforts, commitment, efficient service and dedication of the school staff who served and are still serving the school
