As Term 1 examinations begin toward the end of August and the first term officially concludes on 15 September 2026, the Department of Education’s Three-Term School Calendar is already being implemented across public schools nationwide.
The reform is designed to protect instructional time, strengthen learning continuity, reduce teacher workload pressure, and ensure that every learner meets the essential learning competencies. It is also important to note that the curriculum, academic standards, national assessments, and the required number of school days remain unchanged.

Classes Resume, Safety Assured at Sto. Tomas Barrio School

As classes resume after the recent effects of the southwest monsoon (Habagat), Sto. Tomas Barrio School continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of its learners, teachers, and staff.

To ensure that the school remains safe and ready for learning, School Head Sir Cleto T. Batondo, Principal IV, conducted a monitoring of the school grounds and surrounding areas. He personally checked the condition of the campus, including the drainage canals, to see if water was flowing properly and to identify any concerns that need immediate attention.

The monitoring activity aimed to ensure that the school environment remains clean, safe, and conducive to learning as students return to their classrooms. It also reflects the school's commitment to providing a secure environment where learners can focus on their studies with confidence.

Sto. Tomas Barrio School remains dedicated to maintaining the safety of its entire school community through regular monitoring and preparedness efforts.

AYUDA PARA SA MGA KABARANGAYAN

Namahagi ng ayuda ang Barangay Sto. Tomas, Manabo, Abra bilang bahagi ng disaster response and recovery efforts, gamit ang nakalaang 70% component ng Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (BDRRMF).

Ang programa ay naglalayong makatulong sa ating mga kabarangay na naapektuhan ng kalamidad at mapagaan ang kanilang pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan.

Taos-pusong pasasalamat sa lahat ng barangay officials, BDRRMC, barangay tanods, at volunteers na patuloy na nagsisilbi at tumutulong sa ating komunidad sa panahon ng pangangailangan.

Sa panahon ng kalamidad, sama-sama tayong bumabangon.

Sa pangunguna ni Punong Barangay Randy B. Aganus, patuloy ang Barangay Sto. Tomas sa pagbibigay ng agarang serbisyo at suporta para sa kaligtasan at kapakanan ng bawat kabarangay.

The Provincial Government of Abra announces the suspension of classes at all levels in all public and private schools, and work in all government offices throughout the province on August 10, 2026 (Monday).

This measure is being implemented as a precautionary measure amid the continuing effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and the prevailing conditions of the Abra River and other waterways.

Exempted from the suspension are offices and personnel providing essential, emergency, healthcare, disaster response, and other vital services requiring continuous operations.

For private establishments, the suspension of work shall be at the discretion of their respective employers.

The public is urged to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and continue monitoring official advisories from authorities.

Due to Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals No. 1 and No. 2 currently raised over the Province of Abra because of Tropical Storm , classes in Kindergarten to Grade 10 in all public and private schools throughout the Province of Abra are automatically suspended today, August 5, 2026, pursuant to existing DepEd guidelines on class suspensions during tropical cyclones.

Parents, learners, and school personnel are advised to remain vigilant and monitor official announcements and weather updates as Tropical Storm Maymay approaches Northern Luzon.

🌿🧹 NDRM 2026 | WEEK 5 SCHOOL CLEAN-UP DRIVE 🧹🌿

As part of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2026 activities, the learners and school community of Sto. Tomas Barrio School actively participated in a school clean-up drive during Week 5. 💪🌱

Through teamwork and cooperation, our learners helped clean the school surroundings, collect waste, and promote proper waste management. This activity reminds us that a clean and safe environment is a resilient environment. 🌏✨

Birthday Feeding Activity Brings Joy to Sto. Tomas Barrio School

Sto. Tomas Barrio School once again experienced the spirit of sharing and generosity through a birthday feeding activity conducted yesterday by Grade 5 pupil Gian Kyrie M. Naul in celebration of her 10th birthday.

As her birthday wish, Gian Kyrie expressed her desire to share her family's blessings with the entire school community. This heartfelt wish was lovingly granted by her parents, who prepared and served delicious sopas for the pupils and school personnel as her birthday treat.

The school community extends its sincerest gratitude to Gian Kyrie for her kindness, generosity, and love for her classmates. Your willingness to share on your special day is truly inspiring. May you continue to grow into a compassionate, responsible, and successful individual in the years to come.

Dengue Prevention and Control Activity
July 24, 2026

As part of our commitment to providing a safe and healthy learning environment, Sto. Tomas Barrio School, in partnership with Barangay Sto. Tomas, conducted an anti-dengue spraying activity on July 24, 2026 to help prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

While waiting for the odor of the spray to dissipate, teachers conducted a storytelling activity outside the classrooms as part of the Nutrition Month Celebration, ensuring that learning continued in a safe, enjoyable, and engaging environment.

We sincerely thank the Barangay Sto. Tomas Officials headed by Barangay Captain Randy Aganus for their support and assistance in helping keep our school community safe and protected from dengue.

Together, let us continue to maintain a clean, healthy, and dengue-free school for everyone.
