Mas Asenso NorMin Stars Finish 7th Overall in Palarong Pambansa 2026

AGUSAN DEL SUR — The Northern Mindanao delegation, bannered by the Mas Asenso NorMin Stars, hauled a total of 89 medals to secure seventh place overall in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa, which concluded on Sunday, May 31, in Agusan del Sur.

Region 10 collected 27 gold medals, 31 silver medals, and 31 bronze medals, showcasing strong performances across various sporting events.

The region’s success was driven by standout performances from both the secondary and elementary divisions. Secondary athletes delivered a strong campaign, earning 16 gold, 16 silver, and 20 bronze medals to place Northern Mindanao among the Top 5 delegations in their category.

Meanwhile, elementary athletes made significant contributions to the overall medal tally, securing 11 gold, 15 silver, and 11 bronze medals. Their achievements helped boost the region’s final standing and highlighted the depth of young athletic talent in Northern Mindanao.

Around 900 delegates composed the Northern Mindanao contingent, including athletes, coaches, trainers, chaperones, and officials who proudly represented the region in the country’s premier scholastic sporting event.

The 2026 Palarong Pambansa gathered 18 official regional delegations from across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, showcasing the nation’s finest young athletes in a celebration of sportsmanship, excellence, and unity.

With the conclusion of this year’s games, the hosting rights for the 2027 Palarong Pambansa were formally handed over to Quezon City in the National Capital Region. Quezon City Mayor Hon. Ma. Josefina “Joy” Belmonte received the hosting banner during the closing ceremonies, marking the beginning of preparations for next year’s edition of the country’s largest youth sporting event.
