Recognizing that student well-being is essential to holistic development, Batangas State University, The National Engineering Universityโ€“JPLPC Malvar and Indonesiaโ€™s Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) held the Psychological First Aid Assessment Program to Support Student Well-being on Campus on September 30, 2026.

Anchored in BatStateUโ€™s core value of ๐—ฆ๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฉ๐—œ๐—–๐—˜, the community service program brought together the two institutions for a day of learning and exchange. The program opened with messages from Dr. Romel U. Briones, Chancellor of BatStateU, The NEUโ€“JPLPC Malvar, and Deasyanti, PhD, a member of UNJโ€™s University Academic Senat. Dr. Sharon G. Angulo, Vice Chancellor for Development and External Affairs (OVCDEA), delivered the welcome remarks, while Dr. Alvin Ryan A. Dizon, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), gave the closing remarks.

Organized by the External Affairs Office (EAO), headed by Ms. Catherine G. Javier, and the College of Arts and Sciences, together with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Development and External Affairs, participants took part in a mental health introduction, a session on Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), an interactive discussion and Q&A, and a role-play/presentation activity. Pre- and post-test activities helped assess learning throughout the program. Through these activities, students explored practical ways to recognize distress and offer initial support with empathy, including connecting individuals with appropriate help when needed.

The collaboration reflects both universitiesโ€™ shared commitment to strengthening student well-being and building caring, responsive campus communities. It also creates opportunities to exchange knowledge and perspectives, deepen intercultural learning, and reinforce academic and community-service ties across borders.

Supported by the Chancellor, Dr. Romel U. Briones, the virtual event kicked off with welcoming remarks from Dr. Sharon G. Angulo, the Vice Chancellor for Development and External Affairs.
