Our oceans and seas are vital to life on Earth—they regulate climate, provide food, and support biodiversity. 🌍💙 SDG 14 encourages the protection and sustainable use of marine resources. By reducing plastic waste, conserving water, and helping keep waterways clean, we can protect marine life and preserve our oceans for future generations. ♻️🌱

JUNK JOURNALING 📖✂️

Junk journaling is a simple hobby of mine that helps me relieve stress and serves as a creative outlet when I have free time. I never thought that this small hobby could be a meaningful way to support responsible consumption and production. By repurposing my daily scraps and turning them into journal pages, I’m developing a habit that contributes to reducing the waste I produce while pursuing my creative endeavors.

HABITS THAT CAN FOSTER CHANGE

There is a common saying that, “Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.” This saying is the first thing that comes to mind when I think about the small acts that can create significant change. I believe this also applies to the SDGs—small habits like recycling and putting trash in the right bin may seem simple, but if done by everyone, they can make a huge impact.

Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can mean the world to someone who just wants to be seen and treated equally. 💛

That’s what SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities made me realize — equality isn’t just a big word, it’s about the way we value people every day. From giving everyone a fair chance to learn, to recognizing the voices and rights of our Indigenous brothers and sisters, to simply being kind and understanding, these are the things that bring us closer together.

Each photo here tells a story of laughter, learning, and unity. From classrooms to communities, we’ve seen how sharing what we have and standing up for others can create real change. It’s about making sure that no one feels left out or less deserving, no matter who they are or where they come from.

We may not fix inequality overnight, but with open hearts and collective effort, we can slowly build a world that’s fair, inclusive, and filled with compassion.

DIFFERENT PEOPLE, ONE GOAL🌍💻

In this era of technology, learning and education are no longer limited by the four walls of a classroom; they can be shared through various platforms, screens of different devices, and voices and stories from different corners of the world.

As a student, I sometimes try to find company when studying. Through the use of technology and the internet, I can connect with people from different places, ethnicities, social statuses, and life experiences. Through various study websites and virtual spaces, I’ve met other learners who are determined to learn despite the challenging subjects or topics they are trying to learn, which are greater than mine. This inspires me to study harder, and the reaction icons that they shared with me also added further joy to me to study harder.

This picture captures a simple moment of me studying at home with others through an online platform. But it is also a symbol of equality. Even if we live in different parts of the world, studying different topics, or have different struggles, we share the same space to grow, try to inspire others by showing one another our determination, and by giving simple icon reactions to show compersion to other people.

The development of technology has made learning more inclusive. This moment reminded me of reduced inequalities; regardless of who they are or where they come from, we should be willing to give them a space and equal treatment.

🌱 SDO Supports BatStateU’s Environmental Sustainability Efforts Through Seedling Pick-Up Activity 🌱

The Sustainable Development Office (SDO), in coordination with the Environmental Management Unit (EMU), successfully picked up 1,000 seedlings from Malabanan, Balete, Batangas in support of Batangas State University’s environmental sustainability initiatives. The seedlings were generously sponsored by CENRO Lipa, with the assistance of Mr. James Daryl P. Baudin, Forest Extension Officer, and the approval of Dr. Allan Willard M. Estillore, CENR Officer. These seedlings will be distributed to campus stakeholders for backyard planting, with the remaining reserved for the upcoming tree-planting activity with Criminology board examinees and graduates. Supported by the General Services Office (GSO), the team ensured the safe transport and handling of all seedlings, reinforcing the University’s commitment to promoting greener communities.

🌟 Empowering Students for a Safer Tomorrow! 🌟

The Comprehensive Training Program on Emergency Preparedness and Response kicked off at the Campus Gymnasium, with students from the College of Engineering Technology participating in a day full of life-saving knowledge and practical skills.

Organized by the College of Engineering Technology and Sustainable Development Office, in collaboration with STMicroelectronics, Inc., the program featured inspiring messages from Dr. Dennis B. Legaspi, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Antonio A. Gamboa, Chancellor, and Dr. Glenn A. Caraig, Dean of CET, highlighting the importance of emergency preparedness in building safer communities.

Students gained practical skills from our expert resource speakers:

Mr. Alvic Tuiza – Earthquake and Chemical Safety

Mr. Wenceslao Ubana Jr. – Fire Response and Evacuation

Ms. Joan Pintor – First Aid, including bandaging techniques, wound care, and emergency response procedures

From fire safety drills to hands-on bandaging demonstrations, students actively participated, asked questions, and practiced interventions that could save lives. 🧯🩹

The program concluded with certificates and tokens of appreciation for our speakers, and closing remarks by Dr. Germaine Rae P. Surban, Head of SDO, affirming our university’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and disaster preparedness.
