AEGIS is a compact disaster-response robotic system designed to assist rescuers during earthquakes and other emergency situations involving hazardous or confined environments. The robot is designed to remotely explore areas that may be difficult or unsafe for human rescuers to immediately access, while providing real-time visual and environmental information through its built-in camera, lighting system, and monitoring capabilities. AEGIS also incorporates a communication system using a walkie-talkie to support communication between the robot's operating team and individuals in the affected area. In addition, the robot is designed with a compartment for delivering essential emergency supplies, such as food and water, to survivors while rescue operations are being prepared. The project aims to support search, assessment, communication, and immediate survivor assistance, ultimately helping rescuers obtain critical information while reducing unnecessary exposure to potentially hazardous areas. The name AEGIS is derived from the English word meaning protection, shield, or safeguarding, reflecting the project's purpose of protecting and assisting people during disaster situations. The name is also inspired by Greek mythology, where the aegis is associated with a protective shield linked to Zeus and Athena.
