CHORAL COMPETITION

CONTEST MECHANICS

Eligibility
-The Competition is open for all choral groups within the province of Bulacan
-Participants should be a member of a church or school
-A choir should have a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 25 members
-A chorister can only participate in one choir
-Choral conductor may only conduct one choir that qualifies for the competition proper
-There are no age limits for choir members
-Participants are prohibited from changing the position and set-up of the microphones
-Every choir will be given 5 minutes to test the sound system before the contest

Auditions
-​Submission of video and Audition Form of entry will be on 30 November 2018 at 9:00 in the morning onwards
-Contest pieces can be submitted along with the video and registration forms
-Interested choir groups must submit 2 musical pieces in High Definition (1080p) related to Liturgy and Christmas season
-Pieces may be submitted to the following:

Format
​-The contest will be from 16-22 December 2018 in Barasoain Church.
-Qualified choirs will be competing from 16 December 2018 until the Semi-Finals on 21 December 2018 and finalists will be contending in the Grand Finals on 22 December 2018.
-Every choir may re-use their piece for the Semi-Finals
-Those who will reach the finals must sing their chosen piece (Christmas song) along with their Contest piece. The Contest piece will be sung in a capella.

Flow of the Contest
-​Winners will be judged by a committee of judges through a performance of the participants during the days of the competition until the semi-finals.
-All of the props, costumes and other things used by the groups are solely their responsibility and the church will not be responsible for any loss or damage during the contest

Judging
-​The committee of judges will be composed of people expert in music and arts (including education and critics in music)
-Decision of the judges cannot be overturned
-Groups exceeding the allowed time will be given deductions.
a. 15 minutes are given for each group
b. Groups finishing a minute earlier from the allowed time will be given a point of deduction from the overall mark of the judges
-Groups finishing more than 1-2 minutes from the allowed time will be given 2 points deduction from the overall mark of the judges
-Groups finishing more than 2 minutes from the allowed time will be given 3 point deduction from the overall mark of the judges

Registration Fee
-​PHP 1 000 per choir
-Fees collected will be used for the following:
a. Organizing the event
b. Food of the participants

-​Grand Champion: P 25,000 + Plaque & Recognition
-First Runner-up: P 15,000 + Plaque & Recognition
-Second Runner-up: P 10,000 + Plaque & Recognition
