OLD EDUCATION SYSTEM VS K-12 EDUCATION SYSTEM
On the old system, students lack mastery of basic competencies since the time allotted is too short for them to learn all the requirements needed to be globally ready in the future path or career they want to take. Foreign countries require a 12-year curriculum for them to be able to recognize the learners as Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW). In addition, the old education system has broad subjects that do not fully acquire the practical applications needed for each chosen career path of the students.
The K-12 program offers a wide variety of time to fully master the skills needed for learners to be able to compete globally. Today’s education system will be of great help in order to sustain our country’s employability rate with the help of the freshly new college graduates since they are more prepared.

K-12 grads work ready?
One of the objectives of the Senior High School program is to make secondary school graduates who can be employed.
Tragically, the work environment isn't inviting to senior high school (SHS) graduates. As indicated by a recent report by the Philippine Business for Education, just 20% of the 70 driving organizations in the nation are available to procuring SHS graduates.
Organizations who are not yet prepared to employ K-12 alumni said absence of accessible situations for non-school graduates and their deficient work experience were the essential reasons on their choices; while the individuals who were as yet uncertain clarified that they are either assessing the status of their organizations or are as yet finishing the timetable on when they would contract K-12 alumni.
The Department of Education (Deped), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), and industry associations like PMAP and business chambers must cooperate to make more open doors for SHS graduates and make them progressively employable.
For example, they should investigate the educational plan being instructed in schools. Perhaps the subjects given to SHS understudies are neither industry gauges nor refreshed. In the various enterprises, the progressions on what they do will in general be quicker that what is being educated in school.

K-12, DEVELOPING
The K-12 Implementation in the Philippines raised a lot of questions regarding how it would affect quality education. During the initial years of discussion, our country had insufficient resources to reach what was ideal. Looking at the state of the Philippine education today, the government is gradually developing the education provided to the students in the Philippines and they are carefully making adjustments for the betterment of it. If this continues, the Filipinos will already have what we need, Quality Education.

Our country is in deep need in building more/new classrooms and facilities every year since the number of senior highschool students are continuously growing. According to Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad, due to the yearly increase in budgetary support, our country has enough fund to improve our education system and rehabilitate damaged classrooms. He also added that the success of the implementation of the K-12 program depends on their efforts, however, the process needs and takes a lot of time because there is a need of a thorough assessment to determine the needed budget for this program. The Department of Education received P543.2 billion from the 2017 national budget which will be used to improve facilities, pay teachers' salaries and provide financial assistance to students.

K-12 Billion Budget
Department of Education (DepEd) bolsters calls to survey the adequacy of the K-12 program. This comes after House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano said, October 20, that numerous schools need equipment and have issues that should be addressed.
On October 18, DepEd said it invites the plan to survey the program.
“Congress and DepEd have worked closely together since the previous budget hearings to address the issues of the K to 12 Program. A dedicated review session will provide an appropriate venue to comprehensively discuss concerns about the program and plot out corresponding solutions,” the DepEd statement read.
The DepEd has a distribution of P551.7 billion in the proposed 2020 spending plan. This is P20.2 billion more than 2019's P531.5 billion.
The House of Representatives, in its realignment of the proposed spending plan, included P850 million for DepEd, with P650 million solely for the improvement of the K-12 program.
“DepEd hopes the outcome of the review will spur renewed commitment and initiatives among lawmakers, advocates, and other stakeholders in aid of realizing the K to 12 program’s overall goal – hone holistically developed Filipino learners with 21st century skills," the education department added.

In a prospective manner of viewing the implementation of the K-12 basic education cycle in the Philippines, we must be able propose reform programs that can be of guide in a well-executed project that will lessen gaps and dissonance among groups in the country. The first amendment stated by The Internet 1996, was to get all the leaders in business and industry to be efficiently involved and take part in addressing the mismatch dilemma. Second amendment was to upgrade the salary of the teachers – these people have been heavily underpaid throughout the history of the Philippines. Third proposition was to expand scholarship programs, continue to pursue the free education promise, and give priority to the marginalized. Developing a country where education is not a privilege but a right takes more than a ton of laws; however, in the hopes of heightening the quality of education, it should be a process that the government should undergo with transparency and dedication to create generations of educated citizens.

Research has already proven how advantages the K12 system in school premises. According to Montenbon (2014), students have perceived the new curriculum to be beneficial to the education they receive from it. The strategies that were implemented due to the curriculum helped developed the mentality of learners in school. The research did assess the perceptions of students towards the new school system through survey questionnaires. In the end, people outside the school premises need to be persuaded to realize how beneficial and efficient the K12 system is.

The Department of Education should have fixed the lack of classroom, furniture, equipments, facilities, school supplies and qualified teachers instead of making new decisions or actions. The old subjects must have been properly established first before adding new ones because the learners will have a hard adjusting to the new subjects since those are overview for college subjects. The problem has always been the content ever since, not the length of education. Our country needs a better education, not a longer education because after all we all want the same– to be a contributing factor to changes in our society in the near future. The government should have thought the pros and cons of the implementation of the program since every Filipino will be affected of this action.
